ManguKing

I was hoping that the nemeti would run into oleander.

Roombot

I wonder what the requirements for her next step will be? Just killing Oleander?

Clifton

Pretty sure apotheosis has nothing to do with classes but rather impact on the planet. Presumably more steps makes you stronger and gives you more chance to do that, but the fact there are so few gods implies it takes more than just the steps.

RonGAR

Looking forward to seeing how FATE Magic works. Is she going to be pulling 'PLoT Armor' out of a hat every time she is in a bind? Hmmm? Also looking to see how she incorporates 'Black magic' into it. They dont' seem like they 'mix' well.

RonGAR

@Denva Hmmmm IDK bout that. They are both ascenders arent they? Why does he need to go 7 steps and Viv only 6?

Clifton

Freedom? Change?

Denva

Yes, and even if Nero becomes a god he will need to path up to 7th step first. This chapter just shows that vivs path is stronger,as it's able to get to godhood faster than his.

Tsorov

Who needs magic when you have five frigates with a combined total of around 200 cannons? To quote Junkrat: if at first you don't succeed, blow it up again!

Sæþór

Didn't the god she saved become that?

Diego Rossi

In his speech after ascending, Nero said, "They are as unruly now as they were when I turned my back on their machinations, crossing the ocean to find a better way." Nero's decision after witnessing Param's problems was to move away, build a power base in a land where he could do that with relative ease, and then return to impose Maranor and his order. Viv decision was to fight head-on and create her land in Param. Two different approaches that led to very different results

Diego Rossi

Until Maranor is satisfied. Does someone think that that will ever happen?

Diego Rossi

Nero has chosen the path of the "Immortal campion of Maranor". I don't think it will ever make him a god.

Garrett Kout

If she "joins" the gods on her next path up, and Nero is one path above her, does that mean he's a god? She's fighting a literal god?

Senko

Go read the wizards guide to defensive baking. When the croissants come they'll come armed for war.

Senko

Yes and no. He ascended to angel a weaker agent of a God. Viv will ascend yo a God and its unclear if she'll be able yo remain on the mortal realm.

Senko

His shield shattering was probably a hint.

Senko

Unity or coexistence I'd guess given she's uniting multiple different races, cultures and people's under her banner. Possibly second chances or redemption?

Senko

If he leaves the Nemeti alive he leaves an outside force to challenge his kingdom. For his goals to be complete there must be no other races, no other kingdoms and that means no end to his war just delays. Firs the Shadowlands then Vizm then Param then the Nemetis lands then the world then the system and so on.

Henrik T.

The purpose of conquering humanity is to put an end to war. That purpose isn't achieved if the nemeti are still alive and independent.

M. Lampi

tried to approach, sowling mightily behind his veil ==> tried to approach, scowling mightily behind his veil

Michael

Queen Bob about to add another race to her collection? Gotta Catch Em All!

Diego Rossi

Conquering and unifying humanity. Under Maranor, the goddess of "Genocide is the solution." I would not like to be that empire neighbor. On the other hand, Viv will be a goddess with fate in her domain, so not someone the Nemeti will like, even if Viv has an habit of integrating non- or semi-humans. A though choice.

Clifton

Oleander isn't conquering the world though, he's conquering humanity. He might eventually get around to it, but that's not his goal.

Diego Rossi

I question if the Nemeti are coming to kill Viv or to help her against Oleander. They see fate, and I don't think what they predict will happen to them if Oleander win is something they will like.

Diego Rossi

I think "very near" is relative, but yes, the end of the tale is near.

Raptor425

All I can hear in my head is various Shadow of the Colossus soundtracks as the fleets get closer and Viv inevitably pulls some bullshit and gets them to pulverize each other with maybe a timely intervention from the Azure lady if she's feeling like swatting some Lizard/Bug people or calling up a Leviathan to have a nibble on Oleander after we blow his ship out from underneath of him now that his anti-magic shield has gone poof.

nicoraven

I wonder what her domain would be when she ascends

Leviathon251

Coooool. Awesome set up. I'm excited for what's to come!

Birgitte Pedersen

One of them tried to approach, sowling mightily behind his veil. Should be scowling?

Birgitte Pedersen

Death ziggurat or death chalice?

Mantarok1205

Humans have an instinct for safety and an instinct for thrill-seeking. We build barriers around us to grow safely, but eventually, inevitably, we grow too much, and the barriers become a prison. When that happens, the only option is to tear down those barriers and seek adventure in order to keep growing.

David Brims

Actually, why doesn't she have croissants already? She's had years to develop Harrak's cuisine!

David Brims

Viv got Immortal already ;-)

tr13ze

Thanks for the chapter 😁

D

[] Humans need order like a fish needs water but I believe, as a civilization, that we can do better than that [] Absolut order means nothing moves. If nothing moves, its freezing cold. What do Humans do when its cold? They make a fire, huddle around it and turn their backs to the cold. If its to hot, we want it cold, if its to cold, we want it hot. Walking the terminus is whats needed.

D

I honestly had the same thought. But as others here wrote, i agree. Nero Oleander works for a godess, Vivian Saint-Lys (yeah had to check the earliest chapters for it ^^) always followed only herself and treated the gods like people, so she can become a godess herself i guess?

Jed Wolfgang

Loved it. Thanks

Isiah Debarros

Ya the end of his path seems to be justification for Marinor to get the crown of king of the gods cuz her subordinate would be the immoral ruler of humanity

RonGAR

Hmmm I am trying to stay in the moment, but all this talk of 'one last thing you need to do', or "its you or him'' , and "godhood is your next step" all makes me think this story is coming to an end in the very near future. 😫 Say it ain't so! 😔

Angus Losier

You know, you've got this Sheem fleet on one side, and the Nemeti fleet on the other side. Two giant problems. The thing is, when you have one giant problem, you have a giant problem. When you have two giant problems, you have a creative opportunity to find a way for them to solve each other. All this to say, I am eagerly awaiting the shenanigans Viv and co. will get up to in order to steer these two enemies into each other. It's just a shame they don't have popcorn. And on a different topic, I note Oleander is an Immortal at his 6th step. We just got confirmation that Viv will be a *God* at her 6th step. Her path is more powerful than his. I wonder if he's noticed that?

InLucidReverie

Viv raises dragons, not humans.

InLucidReverie

I was about to point that out too- much as I adore Nestra, this isn't her story.

Denva

Her

Denva

Yes

TheBotler

Mecanimus here is the passage that had Nesra instead of Viv to make it slightly easier to find. Didn't expect Nestra to cross into Bob, I think she would be a big help XD "In the next half an hour, [Nestra] had the knights board one of the Harrakan warships. The newly made vessels looked rather fearsome, and almost otherworldly here with their Earth frigate designs, but they were still warships and not transports, so getting more people on board would require some effort."

Craig

Wasnt that an "all mana" source? I could have sworn that it had essentially infinite amounts of everything.

Young Youghurt

I wonder if Nero heard the story of Kyros the Overlord... it's not a story Maranor would tell.

Senko

I believe it comes down to what they're ascending to. Oleanders path has been aimed at becoming Marinors champion so sort of archangel/herald. Less power but able to freely act in the mortal realm as a symbol of his God. Vivs is aimed at the grand prize of becoming a true God herself. More power but when she hits that final step she'll probably need to step away from the mortal realm outside rare avatar moments and messages to her worshippers.

FuriousDee

The academy might flee to Harrack, and there is also the holy city with it’s force field

Sergey Kadaner

It would be interesting to see what weapon she built from the black mana object she got from the old Harrak capital.

Emily Gurnavage

Aw... it ended. Lol. That was a good one.

Denva

It is time for some fate bullshit. I know this is not how fate magic in this setting works, but how wonderful would it be if it worked like in Sakamoto's days? The absurdity of it will be funny.

Nopret

It was mentioned in the beginning of the arc that the king of Baran is sick and once he's dead there will be a civil war. Big chance that Oleander will ally with one side and the others flee to Enoria or Harrack. I don't think Enoria will ally with him. The northern cities will either align with Oleander or get overrun, they stand no chance. Hellock is probably the city-state proudest of their own independence and they really hate Viv. Good chance that they stay neutral unless they are forced to pick a side.

Andrew

Thank you!

Elan Stein

A very hungry crossover.

Elijah Overland

It's a typo. Nestra is the protagonist of Changeling.

wanderer117

Viv isn't becoming a god because she hits T6, it's because she has sufficiently marked / changed the world. Nero won't become a god because he is changing the world to match an existing god's image, not his own.

Tsorov

Now, it is time that the Sheem and the Nemeti learn why even with ten times the number of foot soldiers on close quarter ships, it is unwise to storm at ships who should have up to 28 cannons per broadside. And they should learn that order without advancement leads to stagnation, and stagnation is the death of every empire and species

Benjamin Mages

I mean, he is in that he wants to use Oleander to weaken or even defeat Harrack without his country getting wrecked in what would, at best, be a pyrrhic victory. However if he learns that Oleander will accept nothing less than complete dominance, and he's not stupid enough to think that surely Harrack will weaken Oleander enough so that Baran can win, he might decide that Harrack is actually the lesser evil. I think he's too attached to power for a general support for Maranor to be the deciding factor.

Ekko

Well, while both took steps her Path was sinply shorter and brought her faster to her destination. Or in short, she took an abreviation.

anonymous wildfire

Still holding out hope for her last Aspect to be The Dragon. Get true wings, become the dragon mom she was always meant to be. Granted, the new aspect might just turn out to be the title of her new path. Aspect of The Catalyst seems like it could fit. Also, yay for Fate Magic fuckery. I also can’t wait for her to fuse her Intimidation and Leadership finally.

Tsorov

Like the templar used to say: parry this, you f...ing casual!

anonymous wildfire

She’s just built different. Literally. It might be because she’s already a half elemental. Not all paths are made the same, that kind of thing. It also just seems like Nero took longer to get where he is compared to Viv’s breakneck pace.

Oskatat

And the day where everyone seems at peace, and no one is petitioning about forming a guild, AND there are croissants, the Nemeti will invade again. Flying this time, since they failed on land and by sea.

Oskatat

dont hold your breath for croissants

Flippu

What? His uncle is taking care of him

ErrebanRrereban

Who is nestra?

Steven C

As I said last time, the path of protagonist bullshit remains the most powerful. But how come Viv becomes a god at 6th while Oleander already hit it while human?

Domifax

Nestra cameo :D

JHD

Thanks for the chapter.

BaguaBrady

I can't remember the degree he is though. And presumably his knight orders etc. who might focus on other light gods may have feelings about aligning with a foreign despot. Either way, I'm digging the potential complexities

Isiah Debarros

He is already working with them

Isiah Debarros

Yeah his whole path is dedicated to giving his goddess a legal way to rule

T'Ericka

No she just got the baby out of Sheem

Alternative Facet

Interesting. It almost seems like Oleander has taken a lesser path, one beholden to someone else. Maybe he's going to be a follower god of Maranor? Also, can they still stay in the mortal realms after they ascend?

BaguaBrady

Fun stuff! I wonder what will happen in places like Baran where Maranor holds great influence. I can't imagine the king would be happy to give up his crown but maybe better the enemy he doesn't know than the scary dark witch he does? Looking forward to some political intrigue in alliance building

Roombot

I can’t wait to see her new powers in action

Marian Ch

Knowing her luck, that one day the croissants will have come out bad. Or there will be no flour to make more.

Unwillingmainer

The Cataclyst versus the Immortal. Fate versus Order. Add in some fate manipulating lizards and we have our selves quite a mess. Time to see just what bullshit each side can pull out of their ass. Personally I'm betting on Viv, because she has artillery Ser Warcrime has be working on for years and God is on the side with the most big guns. Still, it isn't going to be easy or bloodless.

Max

So, she adopted the baby?

SDCard

Thanks for the chapter!

WarStrider72

Thanks for the chapter boss!
