ItWasIDIO!!

Poor Sereth indeed how could he not understand humanities freak flag after getting in a relationship with one we gonna be an Ashzii breeding ground haha (also I just realized my comment 69 indeed *NICE*)

Jonathan Crandall

Poor Sereth is confused by iFunny degenerates

WannaBeATree

Yep. Not always of course, but often enough, that we can even prove it in the origin of some of humanity's DNA.

* collective subconsciousness

Is Nestra delusional when she thinks she will be OK if her Aszhii body dies? Or is this some more of the collective unconsciousness that has been going on? She is the very first Aszhii born to a human mother, and apparently humans are unique with the lack of diminishing returns to the Aszhii power up. Hmmm. Does this combination have unexpected advantages?

Brian

I think for C-class she needed a physical core as the ‘seed’ for her own physical core. i.e. the C-core was there to break a bottleneck rather than to reach some powercap and then auto rollover to the next tier. For B-Class I would assume she needs to cap out her power (already done for some things) and likely do something else as a bottleneck breaker. I don’t think we know what the bottleneck breaker is for aszhii yet, but it should have something to do with starting to form a magical body rather than consuming a core. There’s probably also more we dont quite know about fully reaching the C-class peak

David

Australian slang. Exhausted/Broken/Finished/Destroyed/Dead/Is Not Working.

No one ends a chapter like Meca. That last bit took me out. TwT UwU

Tjolbin

Never heard it, but i asume it means she had her spikes out IE not wanting anyone getting close and being generally unsociable

Pedro Henrique

I think the tecnology to make artificial mana crystals by tapping into leylines is a fairly recent thing, it was pionered by Gidung(the gleam corp who sent a hit on Nestra), and the fact that it rings the dinnerbell to kaijus was only discovered after the first use. After Shinran browbeat Gidung for fucking things up they hushed everyone involved because if it became public knowledge that you can trigger a kaiju raid just by tapping the leyline then humans will inevitably start using as weapon of war rather than the intended use of making mana crystals. So the poison guild didnt know, and it only became clear how much they fucked up when the monster raid was well underway, the leadership realized it was their fault and decided to take as much responsibility as possible by being the first in the line of defense, leading to devastating losses on their part.

M. Lampi

Also, "while a couple thousands elites gathered" ==> "while a couple thousand elites gathered"

Enif

"... but Nestra was absolutely cactus ..." is this a saying I'm just not aware of or is it a misspelling?

Kronos

Tftc! “Morer artillery joined the heavy cannon just as a report beeped on her damaged visor.” Morer-> more

From little shop of horrors.😀

The tide wouldn't form the second out was turned on. It could have taken several hours or maybe even days. And it is not unreasonable to correlate it with the ongoing expansion instead.

StarWolf

Couple of corrections: There was a kill(-)zone up ahead, and layers of soldiers in between. Nestra charged the creature before (it could react). enough cruel ingeniosity(?ingenuity?) and merciless efficiency to put down “We move in after the next yell,”(add space)Ambrose warned. But I enjoyed the chapter!

MountainFox

"It's core tasted minty and refreshing." Err pretty sure she did. Plausibly no one saw her eat it if she's all the way out in front and everyone behind are trying to kill something else.

Khent Mercer

FEED ME!

Daemion

She eats two cores this chapter, the last one is the delicious one from the B-Class monster: "They came, first strange spider things that spat acid and gave her more resistance, then a creature that made the soldiers panic: some ethereal jellyfish that could only be defeated by magic. She killed that one with a bolt. Her cold resistance improved. Its core tasted minty and refreshing, like that Swiss night with Aunt Claire where she’d been so afraid of dying at the hands of a loved one." "Nestra shoved her hand down the creature’s throat. Here it was, the core. She pulled it all bloody from its fleshy envelope. It was delicious. Some people talked at her back but it sounded confused, or congratulatory, or both. She wasn’t sure and it clearly didn’t matter." "The recent boost to her mana reserves from the core she’d eaten might have improved her pool enough to cast a couple more bolts. "

Simca

She was talking about the rush of power. She doesn't harvest any cores during the entire chapter, I think.

David Morrison

When something is "cactus" its considered as good as dead

Mantarok1205

Jolly good!

Poor Sereth

AntiClimax she her

Honestly, I think that long term, human descended Azshii will be terrors. Azshii growth and potential combined with human pack bonding and organization?

c c

Sereth 😆 ahhhh humans

RageBone

Don't think she ate the core then and there.

Simon Hoerder

Ok. I missed Tsorov's point about non physical powers. Apologies. Should probably catch some sleep soon.

Simon Hoerder

It says in the text she already reached the required power level during the tide, before killing the B-class: "At some point, her physical power reached the maximum of what her body could sustain without ascending rank." She might have additional goals though. Maybe get more resistances or other abilities/traits like them. Or get her human body up to the same level. Don't know. I'm sure she'll be discussing it with Sereth after food and a nap. Maybe even after a shower and checking on her sis. Definitely sounds like she needs a quiet moment to ascend rank though.

darkmuch

I don’t understand what happened with the leyline machine. First, was the timeline really: let’s turn this on > “oh look kaiju invasion above our head. Should we turn it off? Naaaah” … feels like the kind of thing you turn off the moment the warning is issued. Or you evacuate the equipment somewhere. Second, was the guild leader aware this was happening? Or was it the actions of a independent subordinate? What was his cryptic comments about a sacrifice? Third, what is Ragnorak up to? She identified exactly where it was, but didn’t send the military or message directly to the venom guild? Was crescent supposed to be a subtle message of “I know” from Ragnorak? Lastly. I LOVE BLOODCRAZED NESTRA! Yes! Become a meme!

Tsorov

I think all her "stats" need to reach the full potential of her current rank before she can advance. Her strength did it in this chapter, but speed, mana, etc aren't at that level yet. So she definetly has still some time in C rank. Cores, as far as I understand, help her "fill up" her stats faster

Marine Psychologist

I personally like the slower pace. Sure the power progression slowed a bit, but it has to somewhat. The author’s put in bits mentioning how much harder each successive rank up is. Hitting B rank anytime soon will still be absolutely insane and since raiders can sense each other’s levels, will definitely go a way to blowing her cover. That’ll open a whole new direction for the story, and we’ve barely tackled family gleam life in the social aspect as is. Way things are going, her family is gonna find out sometime, and we needed this much minimum to even start to lay the foundations there.

BramBora

Wonderfull

Aaron Greene

Conviter

i agree. i feel like there wasnt really any progress in quiet a long time, maybe because she focused on human nestra so much. But i'd really like the story to move forward a little faster.

Aifhwinx

i mean not warning people and publicising the incidents is what's probably going to cause it to keep happening, people are going to keep hearing rumors about the ability to tap leylines but not of how that summons kaiju. if they publicise it some people will probably still try, but they can also prepare for a defense which is probably slightly better than surprise kaiju

BurnNote

If you make it public, someone will do it because of the risk. Just somewhere they don't like.

Bret Steinkamp

I’m reasonable certain each tier is harder to ascend to, so it’s makes sense that she’d have to consume more cores. It also seemed like she slowed down some and was working on shoring up some weaknesses rather than just rushing power recently.

Daemion

So the weird D/s couple made Crescent famous? Probably released a video of her fight with the background music. Kinda epic. The question is, why? For profit? I don't know if masked gleams are generally fine with being in the spotlight... The main risk here is that her own family will recognize Crescent's fighting style and draw conclusions. Then there's her behaviour during the tide. The bloodrush and going berserk seems to be common enough, but eating a core while people watch? That's weird. Good chance that her new fame will prompt some people to make comments about her eating habits. Sereth is confused for a reason, he can no longer control all the information about Nestra unless he destroys the entire city and has her start over somewhere else.

Daemion

It's a problem with no good solution. If you keep it secret, then people will attempt it because they don't know the consequences. If you make it public, then someone will risk it despite it all. I guess at this point going public is the only option left, the secret is pretty much out now.

Benjamin Mages

I'm guessing it's not that easy, because if it was Sereth could just go hunt an A-rank and feed it to Crescent and boom sudden A-rank. I'm guessing you have to reach a certain threshold of power first before eating a core can push you over the edge. Though considering this chapter I'm guessing, if that is correct, she's almost there.

RonGAR

Gr8 everything this chapter. But Im wondering why she is not a B-class yet. She ate the B' class core didn't she? This should be the 2nd or 4th right? (One from the Sword Enclave, The American Light user, This chapter snake beast core, and the Core that gave her humanself back her birthright) To become a C-class she only needed to eat one core. But she has had 4 B cores thus far. Whats taking so long?🤷🏽‍♂️

Kennyevilmonkey

Nice chapter number there. And poor Sereth, he has yet to truly comprehend the depravity of man and our willingness to thirst after anything even remotely human shaped. And sometimes not human shaped...

Manlor

Poor Sereth is going to learn how thirsty human can be.

PickledTink

Wrecked, buggered, no longer functioning. Australian slang. Origin is debated, but a common belief is that it originates from having to deal with a nasty invasive cactus that overran farmland before we wiped it out, thus "My bloody field's cactus".

Kennyevilmonkey

Stiff and prickly.

Full Derp

Haha poor Sereth. Keep your ignorance. It's better this way.

Angus Losier

Sereth is right on the edge of the epiphany, the realization that the same weird human pack bonding that let Nestra make friends with a hungry predator, will also mean other humans pack bond with Nestra despite being an Azshii.

Pete Magnuson

Ok, what the heck does Cactus mean? From context I'm assuming it's a synonym for tired but I've never heard it

Poor Sereth

Unwillingmainer

All Nestra wants after a long, long day of raiding, killing, and Kaiju slaying is food. Not whatever weird bullshit those sexual people are into today. She is just as confused as you are buddy. So, this is the second time someone has fucked with the local leyline and set off a kaiju led monster tide. Maybe they should stop fucking with it? Nah, that won't happen. To much profit and power on the line. Now they just got to get people ready before the start with the fuckery.

Simon Hoerder

Poor Sereth. Good for his future offspring though.
