VerdantOzark

Is "worldwide portal management" throwing Nezhra a portal she needs? Ice meditation + Azshii colors.

Val

He is not the mayor, he lost but for a small margin, so in their system that gave him a place in the government, but not as a mayor

TheLunaticCo

She's already living on a lightning world, After all what is human technology if not the harnessing of lightnings potential?

Cormac

Alright alright alright alright alright alright

Aaron Greene

ICE COLD!

JLM

Looks like the new mayor is about to find out why no one messes with Threshold.

Adam Davies

What’s cooler than being cool?

Sæþór

Tftc!

Bloodkite123

I agree that the chapter feels rushed, but it makes a lot of sense. Nestra is on a rescue mission and needs to find people fast, and then rescue them fast. I am actually a bit proud of Nestra here. Past Nestra would have seen something shiny and then totally would have gotten distracted LOL

NoReTr3aT

They did not ban getting rare loot, just general loot. Find something you need, take it. Find something you sell, leave it. Weird world with never seen before blue stone thingies is a take.

Cormac

Hitomi best girl.

Mistralie

The guilds banned looting. Crescent is a masked gleam and not part of a guild, so that doesn't apply to her, unlike human Nestra.

Clifton

Out of curiosity, wasn't looting banned at the moment? So it couldn't be taxed? Or is Nestra in the clear because the military can loot still and she was with them?

DeadicatedReader

hit with rushing strength why it released -> while it released to aim heer staff forward. -> her Great chapter.

RonGAR

Good catch with the Core/Frida, situation. That core should have most def been scooped up and given to Frida. It was well earned after all. SMH. Hopefully Mec goes back and edits that mishap.

RonGAR

"Its Crescent" "WE'RE SAVED!!! LOL Loved that. She sure does have a good rep! SHe may survive 'discovery' after all. lol -------- I love the way she found the 'true meaning' of ICE/COLD. ITs deeper meaning/aspect/concept. I hope it does something wonderful for her. Now all she needs to do is find a lightning world. LOL ------------ Hope Crescent/Nestra is paying attention to how Shasimimi is cloaked and moving through space. She will have to master those lessons herself soon enough. ----------- "Wow, That Escalated Quickly." *Sipping my beer Well... Crescent kinda, sorta, didn't fire the first shot. At least not directly. LOL She handled business tho. Maybe she even owes Valerian a date. He always seems to be there for her and knows her secrets. LOL -------------- What papers did Valerian have to sign? Is he back in with his family? ------------- Hunnigan ousted already? Damn, that was fast. But honestly... it's for the best. He needed reminders that Politics is nice... but POWER IS POWER! ---------- Looks like Nestra got paid after all. All those crystals and gems, and cores and hopefully a lil something for her old buddy Gore. ----------- Great chapter.

DAK

Valerian continues to turn into one cold so and so. Hopefully he's not going full heel turn, I really do like him and feel bad for his situation. It is narratively interesting that this is all happening at the same time we are getting more signals of Nestra's inevitable move off Earth to Aszhii-land. Any chance he would/could go with?

Young Youghurt

I swear to god one more "ehm akshually" patronising reply missing the point of my comment and giving me explanation of which I am aware since we read the same story and I am going to Slavoj Žižek my opinion of people.

Young Youghurt

@Dragon Earth Mate I really don't need explanation why something I chuchkled about four hours ago isn't funny to you and others. (Trully hell are the others) I find it somewhat joyus that Meca is inspiring such a passion and his readers aren't passionate in a bad way but it is a joke of my exaggerated astonishment over a political leader being held responsible. It's not so deep as to require more than 5 seconds of attention (either laugh or don't don't care anyway) and it certainly doesn’t require others to give me in world explanation (I am aware of whys as I am reading the same story) Or real world parallels (it's three sentences long joke. I don't expect all nuances to perfectly match.)

DAK

Within the story it has previously been postulated that portals have an intent to them; specifically, that they run to the dominant species of a region. This felt like an Azshii portal. I wonder what has changed, or what the mechanism is. Nestra had recently told Seth she was looking to class up--perhaps he is able to call for them?

Dragon Earth

The problem with that is the people with real power are the gleams and he has been going out of his way to break the law just to piss them off. Basically think a UN representative going against policy from their own country. They get taken out of office and punished. Plus Shinran has been shown to be more involved in high gleam stuff due to their close ties. Unlike what we initially thought was the case.

WarStrider72

Thanks for the chapter boss!

AzureMaiden

“She had done it too, by resisting arrest. Maybe she was in trouble.” Well…there is the technicalities that (a) the augs didn’t bother to show a warrant, and (b) the soldiers shot first. Nestra was just backup

Cameron C

That ice portal may have greatly helped her mana understanding of her human mask

Young Youghurt

@Marc Schneider A) the joke lies between contrast of reality and fiction and what one would usually consider fantastical in real life. If you cannot find... it might have been pushed out by your need to reitarate and explain the obvious. B) Shinran doesn’t care about Hunningan therefore Shinran isn't angry about Hunningan. Edit: or annoyed by Hunningen.

WickedlyDesigned

The only point where I feel like it's rushed is the retrieval of Frida's body: there's multiple references during the chapter to getting some loot to her sister, but none that the core of the subguardian that she actually managed to take out was retrieved for her. And with Nestra's rather strong opinions on who earns what loot or trophy from a hunt, that core should by definition belong to Frida (or her family in this case). On an unrelated note: I'm rather interested in seeing if the mana organs she retrieved from the predator she took could be fashioned into some sort of focus for her human form to help with making her ice more malleable or at least more easy to form - if humans can even interact with such foci. Anyways it should be rather interesting how human magical theory would classify their effects.

Mistralie

It's not really funny because it was made pretty clear, despite Nestra's disinterest in poilitics, that Threshold is a democracy only because Shinran and the other high gleams want it that way. As such, any politician only has power as long as he doesn't annoy the real power brokers too much, and Hunnigan has clearly angered all of them.

Endoria

slowled > slowed

Adam Davies

To me the rushedness was a vibe. The raw edges enhance the otherness feeling of the dead universe and how totally out of their depth and brain frazzled the rescuees were. Its like free jazz instead of playing off the chart. I like that the hunnigan thing is progressing promptly. No need to drag it out.

Young Youghurt

@kaalveiten Gee thanks for that needed explanation that was far beyond grasp of my feeble attention span. I mean DUH! You reiterate established points from previous chapters. (Don't take my sarcasm bad way it's just Kelso's and Cox's behaviour rubbing off on me after I have started watching the Scrubs.) The meaning of my comment for those who don't get it, is that being held accountable for your actions, if you are in position of power, is much bigger fiction than magic. I thought it was funny... until I had to spell it out. Good day sir!

kaalveiten

Think of it as a political figure being set up by the faction that actually holds power so they can solidify their power even more. Makes wayyyyy more sense that way.

Ronny Cook

I'm half British, so you're half forgiven. If the story feels rushed, it's only because Nestra was pressed for time and until near the end didn't have the time to stop and... chill. Usually she gets a lot more opportunity to screw around, but the pressures of the rescue op left her little opportunity to do so.

Kor

I can see why it would feel rushed, but to me it feels more... grim, or calculated, or cold. To the point. Which are all fitting tones for this chapter, so it actually works out. Thanks for the chapter as always.

Mantarok1205

As a man pretending to be British, I am deeply disappointed in you. Jolly good!

Young Youghurt

My suspension of belief can take magic structured in power levels but one of the highest politicians being held accountable for their actions? Get out of here! Too much of a fairytale. It's not a suspension of bullshit. Seriously though thank you for the chapter. It's great.

axel jensen

Only thing that might need going over is the grammar

Cynder111

To be honest, id rather have you skip a week or 2 and get the ending in a state that you are satisfied with then have you rush the ending of such an amazing series

InLucidReverie

Brilliant chapter despite your worries

Oblique

Creative work does not always fit into a set schedule. If I could choose between an infrequent "no chapter today, come back next week" notice or uncertainty when/if a late chapter is coming I'd take the first. Not that the second is an issue. Chapters are chapters! Thank you for the stories.

Max E Malekzadeh

Honestly, it was a good chapter. I personally didn't feel like it was rushed until I read your comment. Then the only thing I could think of that MIGHT be rushed is the initial meeting with the squad. You normally flesh out even throwaway side characters a little more. Specifically it's the Hitomi stuttering thing to me. I'm wondering now if it's a natural stutter or if it has something to do with her being drained of mana for a long time. Initially it felt like a natural stutter but now I'm not sure

Morrison

Totally fine! And it feels like in a weird spot between rushed and not rushed… really depends on how important the achievements in the rift are vs the context out of it is I think. Either way it will be great!

James

Please don’t stress yourself too much meca, we know how hard you work

Mecanimus

Sorry I'm late. This turned out longer than I thought it would be, and even reading it again it feels rushed. I just can't put a finger on where but it still needs some fixing after some edits. I'll probably visit it again during the rewrite. Sorry again! And now I'm late for Bob...
