SliceThePi

I thought Lady Azar was killed, which was what caused the civil war in Baran. Is that not the case? Regardless, how does she know Bes?

AzureMaiden

Maxim 31: Only Cheaters prosper. 😂

MoonlitShade

The more we see of Nero/Oleander the more he seems like Homelander lmfao. Thanky chappy

KnightRider007

"Only his skill and a centuries of battle experience allowed him to turn and block" -> either "a century's worth of" or "Only his skill and centuries of" "Above them, the two Ascended deadlocked themselves into a running duel until dawn chased" -> until the dawn chased what? “The Templars of Neriad cannot give them all in the streets of the priest village." -> "give their all"

Thrent

Isn't that sentence about Brick tho ? "His intimidation lashed out, only to hit a wall of absolute certainty that shielded even those behind." Or it may simply be Solar's

Red Viking

What song is it? Always happy to expand my bossfight playlist

T'Ericka

New chappy?

Albedo's Ahoge

I usually play my one song that I had on repeat in the very first volume when she was fighting her way alone through from the royal capital.

Roombot

If you haven’t yet, you should also check out Journey by same author. You’ll love it

Emily Gurnavage

That was pretty fire. I aaaalmost managed to wait till the next one was out, lol. Thankfully there wasn't really a cliff though.

Roombot

I wonder how long until she introduces him to 1800s-style weaponry like revolvers, basic rifles and Gatling guns. If they can build trains and artillery they can surely manage those. He’s gonna be so excited

Roombot

Yeah, didn’t she have the title “The Brick”?

Roombot

I hope Bes gets something like [Dark Vizier of Harrak] for his path 🤣

Konrahd_Verdammt

Well, found this series a few days ago and I'ml loving it. This one helluva spot to catch up at.

jcox

“Crest was a mage of great knowledge who specialized in helpful spells. Her teleportation was actually a skill. I was able to observe the spent circles in several locations as well as her notes, and divine a way to reproduce the skill using colorless mana. It is… very intensive, to say the least. But…”

Jeanean

Crest was always a man, I'm pretty sure.

jcox

Mecanimus, you seem to have flipped Crest's gender. In chapter 101 Crest is a she, in these later chapters Crest is a he.

Craeth

Brick was mentioned kinda obliquely a chapter or two ago when Crest inspected the One Hundred, and saw morale: unbreakable, all sources (standardbearer)

Senko

The trick is to ensure he only finds out about them after she uses them so he can't blanket ban everything in the Geneva convention.

Senko

Lak Tak the war crime.

Senko

On several levels too. She is part dragon and she has dragon subjects.

Senko

The last part not the first sentence.

Senko

There's also the fact if she intervenes that directly on his side Neriad, Estefer, Entiku, Sardenal and possibly the non human gods could do so on the other side.

Senko

I agree especially in fanfcis when some authors treat it as an exchange this person who lived in the show must die for that one who died to live. We've already had plenty of named character death no need to lose more now. Well aside from Viv who'll do the die and ascend to godhood bit.

Senko

Yes but that was from him whining about the mean dragon not the mean witch.

Senko

I admit there is a certain amusement in his "this isn't fair rant" when he got his goddess to lend him her sword which is too powerful for him to even wield properly so he could kill judgement when his army failed.

Senko

This is what happens when you try to kill people during negotiations, leave no choice other than serve or die and tick off every kingdom of one race while trying g to eliminate others. You wind up alone.

Senko

Arthur is going to be bringing this up to her mother for years.

Senko

Disastrous first day for Nero not only was he evenly matched in combat by Viv but he was the one to retreat and then he failed in his assault on her elites only to be driven off by them as well. That is going to shake confidence in him especially as he troops see multiple groups changing sides safely and his lies come unravelled.

Senko

Basically it's personal danger to you. So let says I am the 6th step ruler of Tellaria while you are a 3rd step heavy infantry fighter and over there is a 2nd step assasin. I will not be very dangerous to you because while I am higher level all my abilities focus on leadership, diplomacy and governance while yours focus on physical enhancements, special sword skills and the like. If we fight you will be stronger, faster, tougher and far more skilled in combat. The assasin on the other hand could be deadly to you because while your higher level and a better fighter they won't engage you directly unless they have to relying on poisons, traps and other things you can't counter. If it does come down to a physical match you have to kill them in a sword duel while they only need to scratch you with their poisoned throwing dagger or hand crossbow to achieve the same effect.

Thomas Todd

One of my absolute favourite scenes is when the analyser that was with the prince when they attacked the 2nd time stared into Solfis's soul and it just returned blinding, insane rage and utter contempt

Denva

The obelisk was not an artifact.

Roombot

Nous told Viv that Vandal wouldn’t be able to help her more than it already has by breaking nero’s shield

Caitlin

Fafo! Although, I do wonder where Maranors brother is in all of this. Haven't heard from him in a while.

DAK

Also, no recent mention of Brick, and you know she has to show up. Does Viv have to hold the shield, or can someone do it for her?

SnowReason

The perspective in the prior narrative paragraph seemed to swap to Crest's POV. So I think the last bit is also supposed to be from Crest's POV. As in he feels done with Nero, the war, all of it. But I would not be surprised if Nero felt that way once he got proper logistics set up to remove Crest.

SnowReason

Nestra sighting “Yes. I am captain Jet, elected leader of those templars behind me. All of us came here because King Oleander told us that you were a necromancer.” Nestra frowned.

Angela Roberts

Yes, that part!!!

Clifton

Pretty sure he won't be able to. A wounded soul prevents communication with the divine and he's swinging a sword that can crack his soul.

Robert Rosenthal

I got that, I just thougth being talked down to, and shown up in fornt of everyone, would bother him more

Clarke

The wind caught them with a clack…. The wing caught them with a clack. They mirrored the dragon’s much larger wingspan.

Diego Rossi

Checking chapter 104 for the Vandal incident, I came across a little gem that is very appropriate to this chapter: "“I don’t teach witches. I hold an academic war council, not some wild wood frolics. Outlander ideas? Oleander was also supposed to bring us new ideas on warfare.” Jartlassi

Diego Rossi

He would be know as "Lak-Tak aka Ser Warcrime" or as "Ser Warcrime aka Lak-Tak"?

Leviathon251

You write the constant deflection of blame so we'll. I HATE people like this.

Clifton

Don't think it was (technically) an artefact. Being used by a god doesn't an artefact make.

Diego Rossi

Nero was probably convinced that Viv was using necromancy, facts notwithstanding. He is the kind of guy that never let reality overcome his prejudices.

Diego Rossi

Say that to the obelisk Viv pierced.

Diego Rossi

Nero wanter to fight Solar for training, as, apparently, he is "The Immortal". It seems he has a cheat that makes him inkillable by non Ascendant. And he bases his fighting style on it.

Diego Rossi

Fish with wings fly better than you! ROTFL!

Kota

And here I thought that in war, fighting fair means you're doing it wrong.

Red Viking

I went through a lot of end boss music and cackling this chapter. XD

william wagener

i forget when it is specifically mentioned but the danger scale is rated personally, for example, when examined Solfis returned ... "You may not" "Your Fucked" ect

Red Viking

It's individualized. The reason Viv isn't in danger a lot of the time is because of how defensive and dangerous she is.

Denva

I'm pretty sure artifacts cannot be broken.

T'Ericka

😩😭💀

David Oldfield

Them danger level thingies, sort of confuse me a bit... especially with how often she comes across people with more steps than her who are "Not very dangerous". I cannot tell if it rates them against the one using the skill, or in general, but I cannot imagine any 4th stepper with combat paths can be considered "Not dangerous" on a global scale, right?

AzureMaiden

Just occurred to me while reading old chapters on RR—remember Viv’s shield, and how when Judgment added a dragon scale, the scale just kind of merged into it like liquid? That shield is a mother-frickin Chekov’s gun and I think we all *know* that Viv is holding it in reserve to use against Slayer. Knowing just how much Nero prized his own, not-quite-an-artifact shield, I can’t wait to see how he completely loses his shit when Viv pulls out an *actual* artifact shield, *and* uses it to block his god-slaying sword 😂

phenebeans

> “Squads of hadals are attacking peripheral army formations, milady. They report success.” > > “I hope they don’t collect trophies. Rumors of cannibalism might start.” > > Bes leaned forward, dark eyes peering into her soul. > > “An excellent suggestion to lower enemy morale, milady. I shall convey your remarks.” > > “Not but, like, seriously.” This shit is fucking hilarious. It's like she's got Jafar as her prime minister or whatever Bes's title is again EDIT: vizier I guess

Bum-Sama

Sir Warcime is back at it again. Solid Chappie.

Robert Rosenthal

I am surprised he isn’t whining more about solar schooling him

Angela Roberts

The Find Out Phase! YES!!!

Andrea Boudas

I was waiting for the moment when Viv grows her wings, let’s be honest with how much Arthur (and other dragons) made fun of her for it, we all knew it was coming. But it sure feels great for it to be finally here! Still waiting for the possibility that vandal skill to kick again and break that shiny divine sword.

TheBotler

Nestra frowned. Nestra! How did you transcend stories! I knew she was a menace!

Clifton

It's it just me or does Nero's thoughts about Crest read a little bit too close to: I'm going to kill him once I no longer need him? What a cunt.

Christopher McCoin

I agree with that interpretation, still thi k the after effects could be interesting though, whether or not it actually is the world spirit.

Daniel

Yeah but it kind of sounds like they god is the planet itself? It sounds a lot like when Viv realised, don't know when exactly, that niil (the planet/world) is a live.

Roombot

No kidding. Get a load of him calling Sangor a “traitor”. Like, didn’t you force him to join you by using hostages? How does turning on you make him a traitor?

Christopher McCoin

What I think is interesting is that there is a 10,000% chance the Yries adopted humans are going to start praying to that thing and I don't know what the consequences of that will be.

Roombot

Sure but nothing says they can’t have multiple gods.

Roombot

If she were staying out of it she wouldn’t have sent him to fight Viv and given him her sword. I think she’s just not incarnating because the other gods would retaliate and she can’t fight them all

MrAcerulez

I just knew that Viv will get a dragon form, and it's finally here!

Roombot

Honestly I’m expecting him to do exactly that once the sword fails

Bettafish

Nero didn't go down, Irao's kills don't get back up. Minor change making all the difference.

Roombot

I’ve been rereading the story and it just occurred to me that Viv is gonna be really embarrassed after she ascends and realizes that the zealots were right all along, and she can’t stop them from worshipping her anymore 🤣

KnightRider007

While I do like the use of “dyad”, I did also kinda like the name used the last time she did this: “Harrakan Air Superiority”

AzureMaiden

Plus I believe the thermobarics were used at the perimeter to enclose the camp—mainly because they fell outside the shields. I think the Yries switched to standard shells for the camp itself EDIT: I take it back. The shells on the perimeter were spotting shells; the rest absolutely were thermobaric

AzureMaiden

I see what you did there 😏😂

AzureMaiden

True, but the system also refers to Arthur + Viv as a dyad—*and* they were using a unique, never-before-seen class of multi-caster spells without a mage array. I.e., Viv and Arthur are operating at a level of unity even beyond the rest of Harrak. But yes, Nero is absolutely a twat because he isolated *himself*. The problem with a hierarchy based solely on power is that just as power cannot be shared, so to neither can the burden of wielding it.

wanderer117

lol it's not even two on one. It's humans + dragons + yires +murls + AI + hydals... Nero only recognizing the elemental + the dragon is part of what makes this funny.

wanderer117

Even villains can be the heroes of their own story. It's just not a story that other people enjoy.

Aaron Willard

"Welcome to the find out phase" epic

wanderer117

My guess is that Crest turning on / abandoning Nero will be part of the denouement. Crest is already thoroughly disenchanted, if Nero loses the mandate of heaven (if Nero is in a situation where he can't win but he could still make Vi lose) Crest will leave and take the remnants of Nero's army with him.

Steven C

FAFO, always FAFO

Craeth

"Danger level: Disaster." Could even be.....calamitous?

KnightRider007

"Even Judgment strikes had not stung so painfully. " -> Judgment's

tr13ze

Thanks for the chapter 😁

KnightRider007

I looked it up, btw - thermobaric weapons are NOT actually banned by any IRL international treaty (eg Geneva Convention protocols) They’re horrific, but they won’t linger after deployment, and they won’t spread beyond their target area like biological or chemical weapons.

Grumpy Cucumber

It's been years since he has bled, feeling was unfamiliar. And probably also too busy praising himself for his smartness and awarding himself the Nero Award for best genocider of the year.

KnightRider007

In fairness, the author makes that mistake too 😜

Garrett Kout

Could Irao not have killed Crest? Or is there a particular scene Crest needs to be alive for, so he lives another day.

Moosh7

That's what his divine sword is for!

Angus Losier

And Viv learns the harsh lessons of parents everywhere, throughout time. When your kid is right and you are wrong, no matter the context, they will never, *ever* let you hear the end of it.

Roombot

Hold on a sec. What?

BelligerentGnu

Fucking hell, you are bringing this home with *thunder*.

Kota

Yeah, if you unironically use terms like "race traitor" and "subhumans", it might be a sign you're not necessarily the good guy. Guys, I'm starting to think maybe Oleander isn't actually the hero of this story? Am I crazy?

Ranger Science

“It’s not fair, it’s two on one!” Yes, you twat, that’s the natural conclusion to your different philosophies.

Tsorov

He swapped stories, happens to the best of us. They are just that good.

Kota

Well, as has been pointed out by multiple people, multiple times, hypocrisy is basically Nero's middle name by now.

Arnon Parenti

Efestar forbid her growing limbs without a priest, calling it too close to necromancy

Jeanean

The Yries are fucking terrifying... They give me intense eldritch cultist vibes. Also: Oleander: "mimimi! This is so unfair, they are fighting me two on one!" Also Oleander: Is one step above Viv, Is empowered by divine power, Has the bigger army, Hasn't even drawn his literal godslaying sword. On a different note, I find it pretty funny that he thought he could keep Paladins of Neriad on his side by lying to them about Viv using Necromancy. Its almost as if he knew that the only way to keep the quintessential "good guys" is by claiming the enemy to perform the greatest possible taboo. No other lie could have kept them on his side.

Roombot

I think he didn’t notice at first, yeah

Roombot

The stark contrast between the after-action report in Viv’s camp and the shitshow in Nero’s really shows how piss-poor of a leader he is. It would be a disaster for humanity to let this shitnugget rule them.

ARealPerson

Nestra?

anonymous wildfire

Cope! Big boy is really out here whining like a child, all that he needs to do to round out his infancy is go complain to mom to kill the mean witch lady.

Elaine

good chappie

Drakenclaw

This is a really great chapter. Reading it for the 5th time. Did Oleander not notice Meteor cutting him? Because he was also bleeding there. Which makes his reaction to the Guillotine bleed a bit weird.

Roombot

I love that even though they’re struggling, they make it LOOK easy while taunting him

Hussar L

Nero: Cheat skill! Immortal! Viv: Cheat skill! Plot Armor! PS, but seriously, Fate magic is narrative-based, and acts like plot armor does. Like Practical Guide to Evil style. If Nestra is hit a single time, she is dead. Solution: don't get hit!

Hussar L

But Yries already have a god, the Deep One, which I presume is some Eldritch god so old that it predates history as we know it

Roombot

Didn’t you just quote that directly out of the chapter? I think it was in there somewhere

Christopher McCoin

A mutispecies pantheon would be pretty dope. You already know Viv will accept prayers from all species. The Void Dragon shelters all who gather under her wings.

Roombot

I bet he ascends in an epilogue years later and joins Viv’s new multispecies pantheon as the god of slaughter and logistics

Roombot

HA! Had indeed

Matt Cannon

Also. Entiku has forbidden Viv use certain spells. Maradoc has forbidden Viv reveal certain secrets. Now Neriad has forbidden Viv use certain weapons. Before she ascends, she needs to complete her censordek and get Sardanal and Efestar to forbid things too.

Roombot

And that’s when Jaeger Solfis joins the fight

Matt Cannon

Neriad asked Viv to stop using mustard gas just before Lak-Tak used thermobarics on a camp. Think he regretted not calling her up just a little later so he could add thermobarics to the list of forbidden weapons?

Matt Cannon

As it was written, so it was foretold. She truly can call herself the Dragon Empress now!

Matt Cannon

Except Oleander lol. He threw a knife at Nero and "it didn't stick".

Andrew

Thank you!

ikbenbarry

Man it is so satisfying to see Oleander get bodied by Viv & Co.

James Faulkner

I doubt it, Maranor seems to be staying out of this since Viv is also a representation of civilization

Drakenclaw

“The Templars of Neriad cannot give them all in -> cannot give their all

Roombot

WIIIIINNGGGSSS!!!!!

Unwillingmainer

It's been mentioned a few times, but he's a good guy, not a smart guy. It will take him a while to get caught up with all her new and exciting crimes against humanity and decency.

Arnon Parenti

Can't go dark with so much passion, Lak Tak LOVES war too much to ruin it for everyone else.

Arnon Parenti

Had

Arnon Parenti

Logistics put food in your belly and Bolts in your Bolter Rifle on the eve of battle.

Arnon Parenti

Her God of Geneva is only now finding out what war crimes are. Gas? Flame tanks? Drones? Phosphorous shells? Napalm (just add orange juice) What are Nuclear weapons? Who put these FirePits in this trench? What are proximity fuses? You can boil humans in armor using sound?

Brandon Yarberry

Popcorn dot gif

Craeth

Yeah. What Irao kills stays dead.

James Skinner

All hail logistics!

FuriousDee

Or Irao

Arnon Parenti

About to find out

SDCard

Thanks for the chapter! Good to see there haven't been any more significant deaths so far, always hate when important characters return at the end only to get killed of for it... especially in a story like this, which started so much like a comedic story

Christopher McCoin

True. Not sure if the other species really have light and dark gods though. Seems like the dragon god isn't light or dark, just DRAGON.

JHD

Thanks for the chapter!

InLucidReverie

Nero: "what the fuck is a wrecking ball!?"

Mantarok1205

Jolly good!

WarStrider72

Viv: I CAME IN LIKE A WRECKING BALL! 🎶

InLucidReverie

"There would be no probing attacks, no stupid tricks." is split across two paragraphs

Aidan Coleman

You accidentally name dropped nestra

Drakenclaw

Thanks for the chapter. It's awesome! The wing caught them with a clack. -> the wind caught

James Faulkner

YES. I FUCKING CALLED THE VOID DRAGON. Les goooooooo

Niels Valkenborgh

Thanks for the chapter. I'm looking forward to the elite vs elite fights. Maybe Abe can perma-kill that regenerating dude.

Kennyevilmonkey

He would make the other dark gods look tame in comparison...

FuriousDee

I bet when he loses Maranor is going to use him to incarcerate and rely on how aligned he is and how resilient his body is to properly channel her power

T'Ericka

Because she stands in the way of his total subjugation of humanity and the world. He’s and avatar of Maranor whose also Channeling him to fight the other gods for the god thrown. As he wins so does she

Kennyevilmonkey

Sasuke! Oh, uh woops. Wrong rival. NERO!

Maurin

" The pendulum’s swinging back and I’m gonna ride it like a wrecking ball. Welcome to the find out phase, Nero" Viviane had a lot of good one-liners throughout the story, but damn, this one is top 3 in my book.

BenjiVoid

Nestra!

Kennyevilmonkey

"Waaa, I'm a useless big baby bitch. It's not fair~!" - Nero probably.

Maurin

Arthur gloating about being right about her mother's wings was the higlight of my day

Christopher McCoin

I think there are decent odds Lak-Tak is going to ascend and become a god of the Yries. A touch worried he may become a dark god though haha.

FuriousDee

Him complaining about his enemies outnumbering him is hypocrisy of the highest order. He has the largest army in history

Simon Hoerder

I have eaten lots and lots of meat. I believe in myself. I am closing in on a draconic girth. Where are my damn wings? 😂

JLM

"All praise the deep one! All praise logistics! And all praise Harrak!". Screw it, I'm converting to this religion. Part time. :D

Unwillingmainer

That was great! He complains about the fight being unfair? Him? If only he had allies who he trusted to handle their shit to back him up. Oh wait, he doesn't because even his closest allies don't really like him and he knows it. Dude's been fucking around for a long time and as Viv said, it time to find out. So glad Arthur has been proven right about growing wings. Clearly she is the rightful heir to Harrak not just by family but also by wisdom. Because she was right and that's what matters. Also, void dragon form is cool as shit. Too bad her patron deity is also the god of the Geneva Convention. She, who has Ser Warcrime himself, can't use all the fun toys. At least Lak-Tak got to shell a human camp at night with thermobarics, that's certainly to live on as one of his happiest memories.

Kor

This is epic! I love it

Dont_like_to_Talk

Thanks for the chapter

Aaron Greene

Yay!

LegosFreak

More please!!!! I can’t wait another week

AzureMaiden

Okay, I was wrong. Arthur’s reaction was *even better*

AzureMaiden

Only halfway through this chapter, and I already know that the absolute best line is “you gain proper wings” 🤣🤣🤣

WarStrider72

Thanks for the chapter!
