I'm afraid you've been missing an i. It's always been Sashimi. Now, there might be one missing somewhere due to a missspelling, but Sashimi is her name, exactly like the Japanese delicacy.

Horty

Did Shashmi get renamed to Shashimi or am I retarded and overread an i for 99 chapters?

Termac

It is already established that they are psychologically predisposed to picking very difficult fights (with non-Aszhii people or beasts), which they don't always survive. Serethion stated early on that arrogance (in fights) is the primary cause of Aszhii mortality.

Okay, I finally managed to pin down the unsettling feeling I had with their homeworld. Aszhii are a race capable of reproduction and they use resources. What I see when I look at their homeworld is a fount of practically unlimited energy, ridiculous amount of space to settle, a lot of perfect resources (beans/tools/weapons), near infinit things to entertain oneself and total security. So... how is the giant space plant not completely full with Aszhii? Does the plant grow faster than their race is capable of under ideal conditions and gets pruned from time to time? (I assume it was never pruned) Are there somehow nearly as many deaths as births? That universe had a lot of time for all those stars to die out, so any amount of even small population growth would fill it up. So the state of the population, in relation to the possible resource use, is one massive red flag for me. The second is, that both SS's of their race are permanently stationed there. Why? Third is that the drop-in point into the universe is so far away from their star. Fourth is the joy of one of the SS's at seeing members of her kind. Fifth is the massive power difference between those two SS's and the S's we've seen. There is like a gnawing feeling of imminent total destruction here. Like their entire species routinely gets nearly wiped out by something. Of course it could be self-afflicted. Routine civil war because of some bottleneck might play a role, but the total amount of ressources grows with time (plant/mana/worlds), so the population should as well. Except there is a bottleneck that never grows? I am having difficulties imagining them not taking over the place, even if they had absolutely no social contact with each other, since they are self-reliant. Yet clearly they have not. It seemingly breaks a rule about life itself, unless something controlls their population. That lack of understanding makes me afraid for Nestra's future.

Helena adapted really fast. I'd expect she'd need like an hour or something to get to grips with not feeling pain. She pretty much instantly joined conversations, her relief seemingly forgotten. If a blind person sees for the first time, I'd not expect to be able to hold a normal conversation with them for some time. Still awesome chapters of course and it doesn't detract from what is actually happening. :)

I love the Kero nut scene. Did I somehow space on what a “heavenly” is? Bunch of dangling pointers for me this chapter.

So yeah. With that intro, despite all his power, my reaction to Nestra's gene donor comes down to "Needs killing". Because, once he figures it out, he will realize that humanity is an *existential threat* to his entire power structure. They are a highly social species that *won't* instantly reject Azshii born among them. This means, not only will human-born Azshii not fall for his schtick, they offer a social alternative to those like Sereth who grieve what they lost -- which means his recruits born from other social species like the heavenlies now have a potential alternative. He won't abide that, and he's an extinction-event level threat all on his own. So. Once again. NEEDS. KILLING.

Unwillingmainer

There is likely a whole team of people going over every aspect of Nestra's life back in Threshold. It's going to be real fun once she comes home.

Alex Ledger

Your writing so often makes me smile, lovely interaction with Sashimi and Helena

Unwillingmainer

Well, at least Helena is having a good time. Not being in pain anymore is something many of us wish for. So Nestra's bio dad is an even bigger jackass then we thought. Looks like he specifically rapes women of social species so they can more easily be turned into useful minions. He's also basically unstoppable in a fight against anything Earth has. And Nestra has to diplomacy her way into saving Earth when her best move, beating people in sword fights, is off the table. Things aren't looking good, but at least might be able to save her brother. A fun trip to save Seth's sister sounds in order.

And so returns the TRUE Best Girl of the story, Sashimi.
