I do kinda wish Rebirth was a little smarter. But this definitely did work. If ReBirth is going to be a true threat they need some teeth though. Nestra’s demon dad could be using them as a proxy.

Huh. I wonder if maybe Rebirth lost control over some of their agents? Like, hopped a few of them up on the whole 'Evil Aliens!' thing until they were frothing at the mouth, and then were absolutely shocked when those agents decided to just take matters into their own hands in a way that only causes Rebirth more problems? :/

Yes, it's been discussed before that even fatal damage to a mask can be fixed, just can take a while (and can't be used until sufficiently healed). This was brought up again earlier in the chapter with "Safety because this form could catch a crushed crystal sniper bullet through the cortex, and Nestra could rebuild it later. "
