Welcome back! You mention in the video that you had complicated feelings about opening a patreon because you didn't feel like you'd 'proven' the value of the thing people would be paying for, so I wanted to take a moment to explain why I signed up anyway. You're right, the only work I've seen of yours really was when you were at LMG with a veritable army behind you, and I am certain that there are areas where you aren't going to be able to keep up on your own, and I don't know what the end result of your work is going to be here. What I do know is that your prior contributions were something I enjoyed a lot and want to see more of, and so throwing a little bit of money at you to make it easier for you to show the world what you can do on your own sounds like a great deal to me. I'm not paying for a promised future product that might disappoint me, I'm donating to a cool person who's made stuff I liked in the past who says she'll make more stuff that I might like too in the future, and that's enough. Your previous work taking complicated and alienating things and making them seem approachable and understandable gives me confidence you can bring worthwhile things to the table, so make whatever art feels right to you—and weird videos about tech are definitely a form of art, even if that's not the word we'd traditionally use.

This is an amazing start and i'm happy that i can support your future. I want to be clear your first video was a great way to set the stage. You keep talking about the perfection you want the videos to be with design lighting camera work and scripting etc. You need to remember while you were part of a big team at LTT you don't have to hold yourself to that standard and can be difficult when you're setting your bar so high for yourself. Youtube IMO, is all about maintaining a normal pace to your videos that is both comfortable for yourself and your audience. That means you don't have to spend multiple weeks on perfecting an edit. Your community would prefer to see you MORE, doing what you love most and as you build your channel into what it will become you'll find what works out best for you.

I met you through LTT, but that doesn't mean I want or need you to be LTT. If I'd met you in a coffee shop, I wouldn't need you to stay in a coffee shop. LTT is just where I found you originally. Now you're here. So am I, and that's not an accident. It's really cool to see you again and I'm excited to see what you get up to and what you opt to make your channel about. I'm also grateful for the little personal tidbits about your own real experience because it isn't my experience and I can learn more about more people through it. But don't ever feel like that's what you have to do - you're just a person and you get to live your life just like every other person does. You're not obligated to be different because you're "different". You get to just be who you are, I'm here for it either way, and not particularly interested in politics either beyond concern for when they affect people negatively since I play a role in that as a member of society. Congrats on getting started! I hope it grows into something you really love.
