This is just the latest example though. The only responsibility she hasn't outright avoided is mentoring Noele, and even there, when was the last time she did anything related to that?

You're giving her waaaaay more credit than I do xD my read on it is that her whole "not wanting to get involved" directly stems from her dislike of responsibility, and the reasons she uses to justify that aren't actually why she doesn't want to get involved. Because this chapter kinda shows that it's a knee-jerk reaction for her.

There's huge difference between being responsible for oneself and suddenly taking responsibility over an aggressive and dangerous group of children.

It’s less that she wants to avoid all responsibilities but more that she doesn’t want to take on responsibilities that she didn’t chose. She is a hero who just wants to retire and live in peace without being the one who is always asked to fix some problem. She doesn’t want to set a precedent for helping with things unrelated to her. Selfish or not she is aware the consequences her actions could have on the global scale.

On a serious note, Amelia has to learn at some point that the only way to avoid all responsibility is to go off into the woods and be a hermit. I hate to be mean, but she's gotta grow up a bit.
