Wait, that was NARSIL?? I completely missed the significance of that, how awesome indeed

My guess is that Adar is Sauron, but possibly other characters are as well. I hope they lean into the "takes many forms" aspect

I should add: Adar is not a mentioned epithet for Sauron in the books - but I assume it's one they made for the show. It sounds very similar to Annatar and Artano - which were epithets he used in the books. Adar also means "father" I'm pretty sure so the Orcs calling Sauron that makes sense

Wasn't expecting to see Adar aka Annatar aka Sauron the Deceiver so early in the show (guess it makes sense given the title of the episode) but I'm actually glad they didn't give us a clear view. I also firmly believe the "stranger" is a Blue Wizard. In some versions of the Lore (Tolkien wasn't consistent) they were sent to Middle Earth in the late second age to counteract Sauron's rise. It's the only Istari it could possibly make sense for. And it makes sense with the focus on the Southlands. SO hyped about them showing a bunch of Numenor - and I love this version of Narsil, it feels more like what the books talked about than what we saw in LOTR in my opinion.
