That's really good context to have! I had no idea the production was so touch and go, but I'm honestly not surprised. That's a sadly common tale in animated series. I'm just grateful it got extend to the seasons we have, (although I can't speak to the quality of anything past the season I'm on) And I'm genuinely enjoying Korra regardless, it definitely feels as though it stands on it's own merit and developed characters without having to rely on nostalgia for ATLA

Great reactions, Kyle. Signed up to your Patreon specifically for your Avatar series watch alongs. Loved every minute. Legend of Korra is a great show that could have been better if Nickelodeon believed in the IP more. Not sure if you knew about it, but at the time, the show creators (Mike/Bryan) were only promised 1 season, then they renewed for season 2 only. It was only after season 2 that they green lit seasons 3 and 4, which is why there isn't an overarching story like ATLA which was originally guaranteed the 3 seasons. It's the reason why the season 1 finale feels like it could have been a series finale. Nick also did them dirty that the finale season some of the episodes were web-only. If you take that into consideration, i feel that Korra is a great show for what they had. If anything it proves that living in the Avatar universe is pretty awesome.

I'm super excited to see your takes on Book 2, Book 3 is my favourite of the whole show too!

I think the one I like the less is season 3 because it has less impact on the world, but it's still important for character devlopment and it put the bases for season 4

One thing I love with that serie is how imaginative they get with bending, like they sit around a table and said : we have these crazy powers, what can we possibly do with them ? kinda like a d&d game when you try to negociate with the gm "if I shot a fireball on my feet and do a crit, can I do a rocket jump ?"

I love season one of Korra. I mean, I love the entire show but season one is really strong and it still gets better from here. It was shocking at first but I think the biggest problem I made was jumping into this show the same night I finished ATLA. Both shows are so different with the time skip, older characters and heavier themes. But overall it's a great start and a hell of a way to close out the first season.

Oh nice, 4 seasons total?! I was under the impression there were 3 so that's awesome!

Great reaction! Glad you enjoyed it! I often hear through the fandom vine that It's not obvious that scene by the clifftop at the end that Korra was life-endingly close to the edge -- enough to allow a teardrop to go over. Enough so that she could allow a fully powered Avatar to take over from her had she not been able to connect with her past lives. So this season was totally headed in darker directions. Also, you probably brain-farted but there's 3 more books, not 2 as you said in this reaction.

Oh, are you meaning to say you weren't expecting them to end the season with a murder-suicide? Yeah me neither XD I'm really hyped to see what you think about Season 2. It's pretty divisive, but it gets into some pretty wild / neat things. I've been loving your Korra coverage!

Kyle Katarn

I felt bad for taking so long lol

Ahhh! I'm so hype I was just wondering when you'd post the next one! And you gave us two!
