I've been meaning to read this. I did tonight (May 2). You must thrive on emotion-driven stories. This makes me wonder what it is that Amon seeks, what questions he's asked many times, to which he's never found the answers. All that despair is so painful...
Dam thats a good short story, i really hope Luther saves the day, and comes to Amons rescue.

You create such believable and likable personalities, that hook the reader into liking them, and you kill them off with such ease. I hope that is not Amon's fate. I think he deserves more than to succumb to the Divine. Perhaps, he needs to encounter Ahsan, who at least knew his father...

Also it feels like Amon is handing over his duties to Dhaval inf that is he who will join the Baroness tonight and perhaps for many nights to come. My only concern is if Amon goes.. then who will Madam pick to fulfill the contract for a slave.

This would be one of the better endings for Amon. I realise now that if he did go with Luther - he would not get the Divine and so withdrawal would be bad. Plus the pain of old injuries to deal with. Just let him drift back through more pleasant memories till he wakes no more.
