Amurescan Royal Court (WIP)
🕑 Added 2020-06-25 23:20:05 +0000 UTCSo, I HAVE been working on Red Lantern this month. In between my other work, I have been cranking this monstrous thing out. This is the opening 2 page spread in Red Lantern - Sacrifice, sans the characters.
I absolutely suck at architecture, especially interior architecture, so I have to thank resources I obtained from 123RF for this one. I heavily reffed, and in the case of the crown molding, photo-bashed textures together to make this space, and constructed the layout from an old courtroom image. Much of it is also hand-painted, and I'm not quite done defining the molding yet, which I had to heavily modify in order to fit the scene.
The chandelier is directly reffed from the court room image as well, I loved the look of it and wanted to modify something similar for the space, while obviously removing the electricity elements of it. I think the little globe bells would work well for candles, too. Although how they get up there to light them is beyond me. My guess is they don't have a whole lot of hearings at night, so it's usually not an issue : P
I'm torn on the windows. The initial plan was to have them be stained glass, but the bright white is really striking. Thoughts?

Really beautiful work!!!! What and where was your inspiration for this?!

This made me do a double-take! Absolutely stunning! Far as the windows, I vote for maybe a compromise. Make the outside parts white with the inner circle stained glass. Then again, as we can't tell what stained glass would look like in this(these) type of page(s) how about showing us both?

This is a drawing? I first thought this was rendered. Stunning work

This looks great! I think white windows would work best.

Very nice! Reminds me of the 18th century English woodpanel work that you can see in some of the colonial buildings here in my home state (think Williamsburg, etc). Very well done!

Though the next interesting question is.. Who forced the Wolves to be bred in to Mastiffs and Spaniels *Chuckles* - No - I won;t stress the point on creative writing except.. In the day long past the Wolves build their empire up to heights even we have not seen, and creating weapons of terrifying powers. Sadly these weapons were used in a great war and the wolves who survived changed over times in to the different breeds we know now.

Thanks for clearing that up :) Always interested to hear the back story on a society - and you are a brilliant world builder :) :)

Damn, that looks really good! I kinda thought it was a computer model until I read the description with it. I like the white windows, it provides good contrast to the room. Also stained glass patterns might make the windows look a bit busy with all the other designs in them.

So, the wolf is the first Amurescan King. Amurescans have not forgotten that they evolved from wolves, it's part of their heritage. They just consider themselves ' higher people' now. The Mastiff is the current king, but he's not pictured in their ancient iconography.

I like the contrast of the white.

Although you cannot see the tops of the Chandeliers there could be several ways of lighting them. Lowered by rope and then lit. Access in the ceiling, lone pole with oil lit flame. As you do not show the actual ceiling all of those will work with the rope being a preferable one using a couple of pulleys so not to have the rope angled across the room.

Yes, the black and white is very striking. I am curious re the significance of the moons as that has not been mentioned as much of an influence in Amurescan philosophy or culture. Also - the images seem more wolven with the longer muzzle. As wolves are looked down upon and not being closer to the idealized norm - The Mastiffs - could that be an issue. Great work and really excited to see Red Lantern starting again..

No, there are two more volumes following this one. Five in all.

Oh wow, this looks amazing!

I like the white, as will stained glass wouldn't be the best for reading text ave such, I'd say stay all white, or only stain the middle window

Will this be last part of the red lantern series of the comic? Meaning comic wise. I know you still plan on expanding the world of red lantern with other stories in books but I’m just wondering if this is the last comic. Last Part 3 of this Red Lantern series of the comic.

Yo rukis. I have a question to ask

Oh... OH! I thought this was a hand made set, but it’s drawn. Excellent work.

That looks amazing. Looks hyper realistic!

Love the white! I also like the dynamic between the brothel being very bright and colourful, whereas the courthouse is a little more devoid of excess colour
