No longer part of the Sexbound team
🕑 Added 2021-01-03 04:41:22 +0000 UTCWell, it's about time... After spending so long, so many times my efforts wasted, so many contributions ignored, and so many times silence when there should be discussion, and the cherry on top of being denied the implementation of my work.
2021 has barely started, and i won't deny that my year previously was much, much worse, and several other people can share that sentiment... But this is sadly, where my willingness to overlook actions that are... let's say subpar... goes.
I am sorry to inform that i've left the Sexbound Discord and by extension, the "Sexbound team", relinquished access to the project and moved on. It is with a heavy heart that i've done so, but i am honestly, too burnt out by the people behind the mods, and the community that acts up when you don't give them what they want.
For a couple years now, i've partaken of the Sexbound community on LoversLab, after being deeply entranced by Starbound's simplicity, and the promise of a adult mod framework that'd rival the long abandoned projects caught my attention... However this isn't a biography, so i'll summarize saying, i've spent a year looking into the community and framework, learning it, trying things, and often implementing things i found users would enjoy or had requested and were within my reach. I eventually joined the Sexbound Discord and eventually gained the role of moderator, then developer.
However, the gold-tinted glasses eventually wore off, from the grating interactions with several members of the modding community, to dealing with fallouts of other's actions, and being ostracized by hypocritical modders who called themselves "Superior modders", "Because i did not have their permission to utilize their work", when they've ignored all attempts of being contacted.
After all of that, i still kept herding the new users, troubleshooting their game, and doing as my patience allowed me to cooperate with them, create a good environment where users don't pose hostility to each-other, whatever their kinks and such... But, after all that, the man, the one behind the project, returns after a long year of silence... Not that this was absolute silence.
Locuturus was a quiet individual in the community, i could understand and relate to that. I'm not one for revealing and sharing my interests often, as i'm more judgemental of myself than others generally are, but as i've become part of the "Team", it's become obvious that they simply aren't considerate of my presence in the Team. Firstly, the only other moderator at the time throws the "you are just a replacement of the previous moderator and team member that left", ChesterPiece or Visa, were their aliases. Then i come to realize that Locuturus wouldn't say a word when i made contributions in their many hiatuses.
At first i assumed "It was just this one time that they overwrote my several weeks of modding and trouble-shooting the API, it wouldn't happen again", but it did. And after which, they'd make more and more intrusive changes, and wouldn't even give me a heads up. My mods, many of them, who were running based on the API, would break with nearly every update, as they changed many of the scripts without as much as a word, even in a private GitHub branch, so that the GitHub bot wouldn't even announce if the changes were made, and i was forced to read through the 120+ file changes in the changelogs to figure out what changed. With all that on my back, i still waited, hoping they'd at least come back and implement the artwork expansion, the new positions, and the fixes and adjustments i've made while in contact of several other modders, and given over 6 months of planning. Then they return this year, quickly implement their own new features and assets without a word, and then tell me to not go through with my work.
... sigh, it has to be said. Locurutus, i am very thankful for all you've done, your scripting work is excellent, and the API wouldn't exist without you, i really appreciate your additions if you didn't even bother telling me, a team-member, of them. Not even a heads up to test them, not even a notice. But this, waiting this long, toiling through the animation file's over 8300 lines just to adjust the depth of every single PNG in a sensible yet flexible manner, adjusting offsets, cracking my head against the wall that is trying to fix and implement new features, several times, and i'm met with a "no". Not even a "We should consider" or "I'll revert it if it breaks something". Just denied to see the fruits of all that work, if i wanted to see these animations in the mod, i'd have to add them myself, and i've done it, then it was outdated, and now they're against it.
I am very sorry for all you users who supported me and expected the content to come out, i apologize deeply, and i cannot guarantee or even say anymore what will happen of it... I wish i could finalize the update myself, but alas i am not the coder that Locuturus is, nor do i fully understand his work down to all it's layers of scripts calling scripts. If you want to see that content applied, go support Locuturus's patreon, request it from him, because i no longer have the means to deliver it.

I am eager to work on things too, just trying to adjust myself to a post-pandemic 2021 and maybe actually get a job. I'm not going to drop Starbound right away, but i most certainly am looking for some next game i can mod on.

It's sad to see you go. You deserve much more respect than anyone on the Sexbound team. You've provided a ton of support to so many SxB players. That goes to show that you've given a ton of care to the community. Thank you for being here, to have supported us all, including me. I am always willing to support you on your next projects and am eager to see your work in the future.

That this happened is a very disappointing thing. I thank you for the intensely hard work and dedication you've poured into this project, and am aware it's likely only alive now due to the life-support you effectively provided for it during that long silence. That you were disrespected to this degree, for this long, and never made a fuss or stink about it anywhere publicly is astonishing, and far, far more patience than I could ever muster. Hopefully, someone will pick up the torch of what has been done to keep it going with the changing versions, but I very much agree that putting it down yourself was the right move here with this new information. You are free now! Rest, recover, then spread your creative wings and soar to something new!
