My Embarrassing Old Videos

I hope you guys enjoyed this one, I know it's not a big media analysis, but creatively was very freeing to be able to go and talk about my life and the stuff i'd worked on this way, so really appreciate being supported to do this at all!
This isn't the end for these projects necessarily- commenters are asking if I'll ever make what's discussed in the video public in full, or even the materials around these shows i've never shown, and I'm debating how best to do it. It would be very cathartic and neat to release everything somewhere for whoever wants it but I feel like this also serves as making a better version of those videos than actually exists, in an idealised video essay form. Eventually I'll figure something out, and any suggestions you may have i'm entirely open to hearing.
This also means another promise is ticked off the list- and I have good news! The script for the next video is basically done, one full second draft. I'm going to go back over it and see if there's anything I can improve one last time, and this is another long'un, but I think i'm happy to go ahead and make this my priority for next month. I've got quite a bit going on that i'll explain eventually but this shouldn't impinge too hard on my time to make the video happen.

I was part of a lot of forums around this time, each with its own lore, weirdly tight-knit communities and projects (we made albums and I have a box full of secret santa gifts from people I never met) I never got into Discord and I quit social media a long time ago, but this video reminded me of a lot of happy memories. Some cringe too obviously. Loved this video, rare to relate with a video essay like this!

This was a really great, honest video. It really touched upon a time where the internet was driven by niche, creative communities who were wholesomely learning new video, game, music software to entertain their friends, whether online or otherwise.
