to be fair, gaara fought while protecting a village and deidara didnt have to worry about any collateral damage. i still think deidara beats him in 1v1 on neutral ground, but i think its closer than it seems here

Gaara fought with the intent to kill. Deidara didn't. I mean, just from what we saw, Deidara was actually one if not a few level above him... That the nice part, too... Raw power alone doesn't cut it in Naruto

Yea Brandon i see what you mean when you said deidara is not that strong, but you have to remember that not only did deidara underestimate gaara, he did not bring a lot of clay with him. Remember sasori even asked him if he was sure he had enough clay since his opponent is a jinchuriki.

Shippuden just immediately goes to 100 lol. When I first watched this show about 100 episodes had already been released, I remember stubbornly not wanting to watch sub (I watched full Naruto in dub)...decided I'd try a few episodes and see how it was in sub. Distinctly remember watching this fight and being like...yeah I need to binge the rest of this immediately haha, no looking back. Very interesting fight and to be honest the analysis at the end of the video and in the comments as well....who wins in what scenario.

Honestly, I agree with Brandon. I remember watching the fight and thinking the exact same thing—I don’t think Deidara is that strong. One-on-one with Gaara, without him worrying about the safety of the villagers and using all his chakra to protect them, I think he would’ve won easily.

gaara is definitely way stronger than deidara, he wasn't even going toe to toe, he was just good at running away and making gaara leave him alone in order to protect the village

You do realize that if Deidara uses full power this fight won’t even be close right? Yes Deidara used a underhand cheap shot but if both fight at full power Gaara will still lose sadly

To Brandon's point, if Gaara's fast sand wasn't preoccupied protecting the village, I doubt Deidara beats him in a 1v1. That's a cheap shot from Blondie, but he did what he had to do; same as Gaara. Underhanded tactics to defeat a stronger opponent is a Ninja's lifeblood. Gaara's character development has to be the best in the whole show imo.

To Ron’s point, I love villains. My favorite characters are joker, 2 characters you haven’t met yet in this show, thanos. I’m attracted to villains with a good story and goal. Sometimes villains are cooler than the hero’s lol
