Patreon does not have great tools for messages. First point. It's not a bad idea. Will consider modifying it, but it is the message as seen from their perspectives. Second. They're not choosing in the way you're thinking. One of the ongoing threads is about what the Dream is. Powers reflect the person in some way. Shaping the Dream through desire and intent (which some families already do to get specific powers). The team figured that out through piecing things together, so when they're talking about 'choosing' it's because they all know they can push for something through Will, through desiring it. Regarding knowing about the knights; Talia is certain about it. I probably could have noted it, but the reference to Faith Enchanting in the quest window immediately linked to her knowledge about the knight's and their enchanted armors from when they fought them. That said... they fought the knights and watched the priests revive them from death, and then both Raelene and Alex confirmed the armor is magically enchanted. Second-point-five? They can't challenge those in their own universe. But this also goes back to not choosing. The quest had this line, "Dreamers will be matched against desirable Dreams of similar strength where possible." Not everyone did get matched against what they wanted, and not all got matched against similar strength opponents (Annie is one of them). As for the arenas: I genuinely believe they were fairly balanced. The only one that was notably imbalanced was Augustus's fight, but it was counterbalanced against his ability to cast instantaneous portals which the wizard couldn't. The cathedral was recognizable to both opponents, no special advantage there. The swampy/ruined buildings was a place balanced for both as well, but Annie is... reckless and still learning. She should have immediately escaped the more swampy start area for the more advantageous building area. The tower was a mixture that gave advantages to both.

Alright, lotta things to nag about. First is easiest, i think you should change the system notification so it has our characters names in it, "Erasmus of the Third Circle vs Augustus of Grimnir", for example. It'd be cool to see how the system defines our main characters, plus it'd show what the enemies see, and make the system more impartial/less individualized. Second is throwing in a line about them selecting who they want to fight. "Choose your challenge", and Annie selecting "dinosaur fight". Or if not specifically what each character selected, at least a more general line about them following the prompt to get the fight they want. But this does tangentially abut with something else i think needs some work: the fact that they seem to know what the other earths practice. For example, theyre assuming that the knights they fought followed the dream of faith based enchanting, but...i mean they really shouldnt. That could be any number of the somewhat vaguely described paths, like a wizard with a spell book would be equally capable of enchanting the knights armor (maybe kinda, you know what i mean). Just saying Talia's assumptions about what faith based enchanting is and how to fight them, because shes assuming that the knights she fought were indicative of that power set, isnt really ironclad. If someone from wizard earth fought Annie, would they be able to immediately deduce she was from the superhero power set? The choosing thing may also cause another problem: whether or not its likely everyone would get their preferred opponent. If theres only 10,000 competitors, what are the odds that someone equally powerful as our MCs chose to fight the earth 1 competitors? Just, divided equally, about 1,100 people from each realm, divided into equivalent power, then matching up against the progression mechanic they want. How many dinosaurs chose superhumans to fight, and how many superhumans chose dinosaurs? I dunno im starting to ramble, but i think 10,000 is just a low sample size for it to all work out nicely, especially considering the overall population that could be competing. 1,100 people is an absolutely infinitesimal percentage of the 10 billion person population of earth 1, or whatever it'll be in 30 years, so you could increase that number. Oh and this is definitely another rule of cool thing, but it is also very "convenient" that the fights we care about have settings based on other realms, instead of a walmart or something boring. Not only are none of them familiar with their arena, but all their opponents have a home field advantage. Stretches disbelief if anyone thinks about it, sorta. Even if its the system trying to kill them all (which i dont think it is, the only one its got a beef with is Alex), there are way better ways to successfully kill them. Nothing to change, definitely better for it, but it does show a bit of a bias, invisible hand of the author type stuff. Oof this was a lot, even for me, and for no real reason. The main thing is that since theyve been talking about what the best power for them would be, ive found it strange they didnt just assume the system would randomly assign them enemies. The quest notification was a little vague, it alluded to fighting some one you'd benefit from but wasn't clear.
