green cabinets in a kitchen! my dream! so excited to see it! also this is not necessarily aesthetic, but investing in a more pricey (like not the $2 one) pizza cutter has changed my life. i use it for frozen pizzas, quesadillas, omelettes, it just makes cutting those things slightly easier and i love it. Also getting a cute, but okay if it gets a little worn cutting board for cutting these things (along with other things like sandwiches, cheese boards) is an excellent investment in my opinion. lastly a spoon rest for when you're using a spoon, spatula, tongs, etc. to cook and you just want to place it down for a bit and not make a mess on the counter. you still have to clean the spoon rest, but somehow it just feels better than the alternatives.

Love a good mortar and pestle!

Maxwell

If you don't have one already, I'd say a pestle and mortar is an amazing thing to have on the kitchen counter that makes you LOOK sophisticated and like a good cook! Of course, when you're actually cooking, you'd want to use it to smash up garlic, grind up whole spices, make pesto, all that fancy shit, but otherwise you can just have it store up garlic, shallots, or limes, or use it as a salt dish, or just have it sit there bare because it looks SO COOL. Goodies (goodies.la) has a few locations across LA and they sell a marble version for only $25!

Wonderfully put! I love that you had a chance to empathize with your boss! We’re all just trying our best 🤷🏼‍♀️

Wow haha that is such a throwback visual! Amazing!

Pool sloth! Sloths love water! I think! Maybe they don’t! I don’t know!

Your take on adulthood is just so relatable. It's truly comforting to hear that we're all just winging it. You can generate a lot of liberation from that but it can also cause a lot of anxiety. In its worst form it can be the source of a lot of shame though, to think that EVERYONE ELSE is so much more capable, so much more collected. A good cure I found is just talking to them. You don't have to dig very deep to find out that EVERYONE has areas in their life where they feel out of their depth. For you as an individual the areas you feel incompetent in just light up like active brain areas in a CT scan. The nice thing of being capable is that you don't even realise it when you're doing something. For instance, I really struggle with anything technical, be it electronics, be it furniture. So when I hear about people easily handling moving from one flat to another I'm always very impressed and terribly intimidated. But then the other day, my superior comes up to me and asks if I could wash the company car before I take it, because she's never done it in her life (and she does drive a lot) and feels very anxious about it. So, life lesson, everyone has something he or she is ashamed about it. Due to my own insecurities I could totally sympathise with her. Another cure is exactly what you've been doing, Grace, which is being totally honest and open about it. That gives the other person a chance to open up and you can just laugh together at your insecurities. So thanks for sharing your thoughts!

Grace, in the last episode you mentioned Elliott played Pluto at Disneyland. For several years I worked in the Main Street tobacco shop. Yes, there was a tobacco shop that adjoined the Main St. Magic Shop. This was back in the late 60s . Pluto and Goofey would come into the shop and go to our storage area the was between tobacco shop and Hills Bros coffee to get away from harassing kids and have a smoke. This was back when Steve Martin and John McKuen worked in the magic shops.

One gadget I have in the kitchen is a convection oven with a pizza oven on the bottom.. you can cook frozen pizzas, or heat up left over pizza.. but also the top part can be used like any other toaster oven.. good for smallish meals or quick meals 🧑‍🍳. This weekend I’m going to finish up painting my deck - railings left.. and then swim in the pool and by swim I mean float in the pool, or perhaps, Pool Sloth it up!

We loooove a good sloth day

Hahaha that is HIGHLY relatable- I can’t wait for you to get your surprise blinds! 😂

Forgot to mention! Right now, I’m about to watch the Anthony Padilla video! I’m excited to see you in it!

So jealous!! Have THE BEST time!

I have been the DEFINITION of slothing today. Accidentally slept until 4pm (I didn’t have work today), then I went out and got some food, watered my barely still alive garden, and then went back to bed. I’m up again now to do my adult, before-bed responsibilities. It’s been a truly wild week, and I don’t really have plans for this weekend, other than reading and attending the book club. I must confess, I’m only on page 25. I’m not sure I’ll finish it in time, but that’s okay. I couldn’t tell you the last time I finished a book that wasn’t a comic book 😬😅 I’m really looking forward to seeing these cabinets!! I hope you have a great weekend 💚

Hell yes to fresh kitchen vibes! We had a guy measure our kitchen windows today, pulled out a million samples and asked me what blinds I wanted. I just stood there like… 😐 Ohhhh I’M the adult and should probably know all the nuances of the different blinds there are. I nervously pointed at one to convince him I knew what I wanted and now my scatterbrain doesn’t actually remember what it picked. So that’ll be a nice surprise this weekend. 😅 Maybe we all just need stunt doubles to do the adulting bit for us - unlike Tom who apparently has it ALLLL figured out. Enjoy the new kitchen! ❤️💙

Omg very jelly - have a blast!

so excited to see the green cabinets! that’s my dream for when i finally get a house and not a boring apartment i can’t customize. i’m going to the eras tour tomorrow (can’t believe that’s a real true thing i can say) and will be scream singing until my throat hurts!

Thank you, it’s a hoot! The drink I make is watermelon, pink lemonade mix, sugar, ice, & water so it’s pretty simple if you ever wanna give it a try! Just put it all in a blender & you’re good to go

So excited oh your behalf about your kitchen! As an enthusiastic follower of your cooking videos I can appreciate the change of aesthetic brings more than just some fresh energy to your space! 💖 Green is also the colour of our dear friend miss Mary Jane so it all symbolically sounds absolutely wonderful and attuned to you! Sending so much Aroha (love in Māori) and light to you Grace from New Zealand. So honoured to be able to (virtually) go on this journey with you after following you and Mamrie avidly for YEARS. YOU GOT THIS GIRL 💚💚💚

I don’t get high often but the other night alone I took a whole homemade gummy that my friend made, after only trying halves before that, and got so high that I was extremely dizzy and started to panic and had to immediately get in bed at 8:30 and listen to Taylor Swift to calm down and convince myself I wasn’t gonna die. So I feel ya! 🤍

I gotta get into watermelon! it's always seemed so cumbersome but maybe this is the year 🤔 Have a nice family dinner - that sounds so wholesome and cute!

I can’t wait to see the green cabinets! I love the change and excitement of the transformation of the kitchen. I too as an adult love the kitchen and all the creative food endeavors can happen within. I recently have loved getting creative and finding new foods to make. This summers has been frozen watermelon lemonade kinda drink. Idk how to describe it but it’s refreshing especially in this summer heat and humidity! No big plans for me this weekend. I work super early (5am) tomorrow. I might take myself to the movies and go see No Hard Feelings. We’ll see where the day leads! Sundays are for family dinners. Both of my brothers recently had babies so I’m looking forward to seeing them. Hope you guys have a good weekend!
