About that story at the end: I obviously don't know what the case was for you, but in general I think a really important factor is how parents get their children to face a scary thing. It makes a huge difference if you support them through it or just throw them in, dismiss them or react negatively to them being scared in the first place. The latter can easily just teach that them to not trust and feel safe with their parents. I also think the seeing your parents scared thing is really interesting. There are definitely a couple of fears I have because of the way my dad treated those things. Not that he was super terrified, but he was a bit overly cautious in a way that he could still rationally explain and my child brain took that and generalized it to xyz is always super scary and dangerous and now it's really hard to get rid of that😅
