FM23 - CUSTOM GAME SETUPS (06.05.23)

I have created 6 custom "db setups" and 6 "game_setups" for you for default Nations aswell as 4 extended "db setups + "game setups" which are in line with my personal "List of files I recommend". This gives you now over 200 playable Nations!
The setups are designed so that there is something for weaker systems as well as for high-end. Even the "extremely small" setup can be very demanding.
The setups are my personal recommendation and can of course be adapted by you as you wish.
ABOUT THE SETUPS:
EXTREMELY SMALL (vanilla version) :
153k players
12 playable leagues in 12 nations
24 nations "view only
This setup is the "smallest". Don't be put off by the number of players. Many still think that a high number of players is the main factor for a slower simulation. But this is wrong!
SMALL (vanilla version):
160K players
12 playable leagues in 12 nations
40 Nations "view only
The difference between the setup "Small" and the setup "EXTREMELY SMALL" are only more "view only"-leagues. These increase the immersive game experience. The difference in speed to the smaller setup is not very big.
MEDIUM (vanilla version):
207K players
65 playable leagues in 44 nations
9 Nations "view only
This setup is already much bigger than "SMALL". For me, this is where a realistic database for long-term simulations begins. Apart from the smallest default nations, all nations have between 1-3 playable leagues.
LARGE (vanilla version):
214K players
94 playable leagues in 53 nations (at least 1 playable league in all default nations)
This setup has at least 1 playable league for each nation. The playing experience is again a little more realistic than in the "MEDIUM" setup. However, I would still recommend the "MEDIUM" setup to most people (unless you have a high-end PC or laptop).
VERY SMALL (Extended version):
153k players
19 playable leagues in 14 Nations
33 Nations "view only"
Total of 47 Nations
This setup has the top 2 divisions in ENG, FRA, ITA, SPA, GER as playable (due to the age bug I recommend this for those Nations in every setup) + other top leagues in Europe and some from other continents. The majority of the well known leagues worldwide is "view only". All of them have full squads.
SMALL (Extended version):
192k players
33 playable leagues in 28 Nations
41 Nations "view only"
Total of 69 Nations
The "small version" has more playable leagues, especially the top leagues around the world. There are more "view only" leagues of Nations which have at least between 70-80% of full squads available in the database. Those which are below that number have been left out (ex. DR Congo)
MEDIUM (Extended version):
215k players
67 playable leagues in 51 Nations
42 Nations "view only"
Total of 93 Nations
The "medium" setup has the top 3 divisions in ENG, FRA, ITA, SPA, GER as playable aswell as the top 2 in some other bigger leagues (ex. Brazil, Argentina, Belgium, Portugal or Japan). The biggest leagues of all Continents are playable with this setup.
LARGE (Extended version):
240k players
151 playable leagues in 119 Nations
"The big one". xD The large setup has at least 1 playable league in 119 Nations. I still tried to keep it as small as possible (me laughing) that some of you who may be scared of such a setup give it a try :D
VERY LARGE (Extended version):
242k players
250 playable leagues in 219 Nations
"The complete one". All 219 Nations have at least 1 playable league. From Aruba to Zimbabwe. This is my personal favourite. There will be a realistic simulation from A-Z in all nations. It's also the setup I use for the XXL-longterm testings aswell.
EXTREMELY LARGE (Extended version):
251k players
370 playable leagues in 219 Nations
"The crazy one". This is kinda overkill but hey, there might be a handfull of people using it I guess. All 219 have at least 2 playable divisions (if available). This helps that promoted/relegated teams of smaller nations will continue to be simulated as realistic as possible. For me personally the additional processing-time vs. gain of realism isn't really worth it but you might get the last 5% of accuracy out of the game.
DETAIL LEVEL:
The detail level with which various competitions are simulated must be set after the start of the game. (Options -> "FM Symbol" -> "Detail Level") These can slow down the game considerably, especially if your PC/laptop has few CPU cores (less than 8 cores and 16 threads). So it depends a lot on your hardware.
FOR ALL SETUPS I RECOMMEND:
INTERNATIONAL COMPETITIONS
Match Detail: All Competitive Matches
CONTINENTAL COMPETITIONS
Match Detail: All Competitive Matches (or the continent you are actively managing)
DOMETSTIC CLUB COMPETITIONS
Match Detail: This is very individual depending your CPU. For smaller setups I would set the top leagues in England, France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Brazil, Argentina as fully simulated, not more.
If you are using bigger setups like the "extended setup large" I would also set the top leagues in all continents as fully simulated + Portugal, the Netherlands & Turkey in Europe.
This would mean the following top division leagues can be simulated with full details + the ones for Europe I mentioned already:

IMPORTANT!
If the save becomes too slow, reduce the detail level rather than the number of playable leagues. I also advise against adding leagues at a later stage. Only the removal of lower leagues, for example if you start in league 4 or 5, could be useful.
HOW TO INSTALL:
These folders must be placed (if they do not already exist) in the same location as the "editor data" folder. So: Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2023 (NOT INTO THE EDITOR DATA ITSELF)
The "game_setups" must be loaded during league selection (bottom left).
The "db setups" must be loaded via the "advanced db" when creating the game.
Always load the corresponding "db setup". So "extremely small" + "extremely small" or "medium" + "medium".

Hey there, Once you are at your save start, is it a convenient way to check which exactly are the "12 top divisions which are playable in the setups "extremely small + small" ? Cheers

That source which say's that "view-only" takes a lot of performance is wrong. The impact is not that big. It helps for a better visual representation and if you load players via the advanced db for those leagues it also has a higher level of realism
Is there a lot of importance to the "view only" nations, because I read, that even those take up a lot of performance ... Do they help with creating newgens for that nation?
