I really like that the three types of ponies still have distinct cultural differences and ideas amongst themselves. From what I saw of the show it seemed like there wasn't much in the way of differences between the groups, though I might not have seen enough episodes 😅

It seems pegasi cannot fly without magic, as they lose the ability to do so when Tirek drains them. I headcanon this is because a horse is simply too heavy to fly. Magic is needed to get them off the ground and in the air. Scootaloo cannot fly because her stunted wings don’t conduct enough magic. Bulk Biceps has a similar problem, but is ultimately able to fly despite his massive size, so I’m gonna assume weight isn’t much of a handicap when it comes to flight, not so long as a pegasus has ample reserves of magic. Ponies can still fly when they become pregnant or put on a couple pounds, just not as fast as before. An obese or bulky pony may not be able to get off the ground, but it isn’t easy for a pegasus to get to that point in the first place. For one, they have the fastest metabolisms of all three pony races, and for two, flying is extremely intensive and burns a colossal amount of calories. A decently active pegasus may struggle to put on weight. It’s kinda like if us humans had to swim everywhere, we’d all be very svelte and strong.

Yes! :D Very much so. Also, Zips just plain finds her beautiful and attractive as is. When I say “ideal”, I don’t mean ponies find any deviating body type instantly unattractive, personal taste varies greatly. Rainbow Dash for example has a thing for big beefy ponies like Applejack and her horseband, and also tiny chubby types like Quibble Pants. I thought about a period where after Zips and Cloudy’s “fake” dating comes to an inevitable (and painful) end, Zips tries dating around to fill the void. As a young rich Wonderbolt, there’s no shortage of lithe gorgeous pegasi willing to go out with him. Buuuut being around them only amplifies his pining and makes him realize he doesn’t want anyone but Cloudburst. He truly does find her fun to be around, cute, and verrrrry attractive (further intensified by the fact he’s already kinda in love with her, imo being in love turns any partner into an instant 10/10 to you)

In your headworld can very over weight ponys still fly? I know vampire bats can eat so much in a sitting that they can no longer fly for awhile. Now that I think about it... I don't think I've ever seen an overweight bird other than chickens. I wonder if they store fat differently than mammals? Since pegasi are a mix of avian/mammal it's an interesting combination. Like would they have really high metabolisms? If you don't have a canon in mind for this it's fine because this is really nittty gritty and random lol.

Honestly I love this so much~ I have a headcanon that Cloudy is really insecure around Zips at first, but as they get closer she's a little more comfortable wearing say, shorts, or leggings even, and one day even feels like 'Hey It's hot as balls, tanktop it is' and yes Zips is like 'WHOA bahonkers' but also like, low-key proud of his bestie/potential GF because, it takes strength to do that when you're not comfortable with your body. I bet Zips doesn't put pressure on Cloudy to look a certain way, or lose weight, he just is happy that she's authentic to herself and becoming happy in who she is. I dunno I just love supportive relationships like that, I bet it would be a super big breathe of fresh air for the both of them to not have expectations for once.

I love the idea that different pony races have different standards of beauty. I think that pegasus don't really want them to have big breasts, because tits will interfere with them in flight. Earth ponies will appreciate big hips, because they will be able to give birth to a baby in a barn quite quickly.

Ypooo I had a similar headcanon about pony body types! I’m glad other people had it too! Out of respect for Cloudburst I won’t comment on her body, but from a design standpoint I like the decisions you made with her, as well as the character decision to hide the curves with her clothes. I remember seeing some fashion vids particularly for ensembles that hide clothes.

Zipperflash’s plan was to get Cloudy to fake-date him so he could rub it in the face of Aerostorm, Cloudburst’s older brother and Zips’ greatest rival. But this plan backfires, because 1.) Stormy doesn’t care, and 2.) Zips accidentally ends up befriending Cloudburst, then falling for her, leaving them both to stew in their own denied feelings and secret pining.
