Shag Off, Scleroderma!
For the third year in a row, on behalf of the Lovelies, Gaelandia Cares is holding a fundraising raffle for charity. At the request of a community member, this year’s fundraising efforts will support scleroderma research.
Scleroderma is a chronic and painful autoimmune disorder, like its better-known cousins MS, fibromyalgia, and lupus. With scleroderma, the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks healthy cells by continually creating extra collagen. This extra collagen can cause symptoms from hardening and tightening of the skin, to limited mobility in joints and connective tissue, to hardening of internal organs leading to organ failure. Six out of seven scleroderma sufferers are women.
Because Gaelandia is an international community, we had hoped to fund an international organization. Unfortunately, the only reputable world-wide Scleroderma organization, the World Scleroderma Foundation, does not accept online donations; in fact, they require potential donors to give them personal data before sending instructions to make the actual donation. In the interest of respecting Lovelies’ privacy, we have therefore chosen to support the US-based Scleroderma Foundation.
SF funds medical research led by both world-renowned specialists and up-and-coming researchers, as well as providing medically sound information and educational resources for scleroderma patients and those who love them around the world. In addition, the foundation offers a variety of support services for those living with scleroderma. HOW TO ENTER:
1. Make a donation directly to: https://www.scleroderma.org/site/SPageServer/?pagename=donate_home All donations are processed in U.S. dollars. You can still donate if you live outside of the U.S.! Just check an online currency conversion tool (like Google's) to make sure you're comfortable with the amount in your own currency.
* Entries increase for each 5 dollar increment donated:
5 dollars = 1 entry ......... 20 dollars = 6 entries
10 dollars = 3 entries ... 25 dollars = 8 entries
15 dollars = 5 entries ... 30 dollars = 10 entries
2. Once you have made your donation, email a screenshot confirming your donation (or forward to GaelandiaCares@gmail.com. Feel free to edit out any identifying information you don’t want us to see! We really just need a first name & amount donated.
* In the email, please also include your Patreon username, the donation amount and which prize(s) you’d like to be entered for. Brigid and Liisa, our Raffle Admins, will review and track all entries, and will follow up directly for any missing information.
* If you don’t want raffle entries, please e-mail us the amount you donated anyway so that we can track our fundraising efforts accurately. Alternately, you can donate your raffle entries to one or more other Lovelies of your choice. (We can’t choose for you.)
3. The draw will close on Saturday, 7th September at 11:59 pm (Eastern Standard Time) and the list of entries will be finalised.
4. Winners will be chosen using a random entry selector and announced no later than Saturday, 14th September, time to be determined.

I am a very new member to Gaelforce and seeing this post I just got the biggest shocking surprise of my life: Thank you, sincerely, from the bottom of my heart for helping fundraise for this sh*tty effin’ disease that I am fighting. I suddenly don’t feel so alone & invisible seeing that this amazing community now knows about this disease ❤️
One of the ailments I suffer from is fibromyalgia. It’s horrible pain every minute of my life which makes it hard to stay positive. I’d love a cure! Or even a bit of relief. The anxiety, depression and brain fog these diseases cause is worse than the pain and they themselves make the pain worse. It’s a vicious cycle.😣. I am happy Gaelandia Cares is donating to this cause this year!! 🙏♥️🙏♥️🙏

There was a huge surge of prize donations this year - there is so much support and talent in the community! 😍 These donations are absolutely amazing! ....... yeah I guess Slim Shizzle’s ok too ...... whoever wins him will have to keep an eye on him, though, the langer has a bad habit of finding his way into your skanties drawer and making panty forts ... 🤨 --- So many suffer from autoimmune diseases, the more support we can give to research and education, the more help those who suffer and their loved ones can receive, and the more hope there is to finding a cause and cure 💕 Thank you so much to those who are donating prizes, and to those who offered prizes, and thank you in advance for all the donations towards Scleroderma research and once again showing how incredible this community is! 🥰

We already have so many prizes that I'm not sure we could sanely track entries for more, but we'd be tickled pink to hold a place for your artwork when our 4th fundraiser rolls around!
