I dated a British expat several years back, and his attempt to teach me Cockney rhyming slang was probably the most incomprehensible text conversation we ever had 🧐 Me: "So, what is this 'Cockney rhyming slang' you speak of?" Him: "Well, it can be a bit difficult to explain to foreigners. The easiest way would be to give you some examples of it. For example, if I was out with my mates and I said to one of ‘em, <i>'How’s the trouble?',</i> that would mean that I’m asking about his wife." Me: "...I don’t get it. At all." Him: "When I say 'trouble', I’m referring to 'trouble and strife'. Which rhymes with wife. Strife...wife...it makes sense, yes?" Me: "I guess so, but why would you shorten 'trouble and strife' to just 'trouble'? That’s takes out the rhyming aspect completely!" Him: "Taking out the rhyme is actually pretty common, which is also why it’s hard for foreigners to understand. Another example would be if we were sitting at the dinner table, and I asked you to <i>'Pass the rocker.' </i>That would mean I was asking you to pass the sauce." Me: "What?! How are you getting 'sauce' from 'rocker'?!" Him: "So, 'rocker' would mean 'rocking horse' in this case. Pass the rocking horse...pass the sauce...get it?" Me: "But 'horse' doesn’t rhyme with 'sauce'!" Him: "It does when you’re British." Me: "..." —— And at that point I decided to never discuss Cockney rhyming slang with him ever again 🤐 But it admittedly was a useful tutorial - I actually understood Gael’s take on Cockney rhyming slang in the audio before he explained it to the listener, so I can feel all chuffed about it now 🤓

This was really nice today...so serene and calm....,especially after the fire he lit yesterday 😏....I love that his talent is so versatile &amp; he mixes it up...We cried on Sunday....had orgasms on Tuesday......and by Wednesday he’s dancing our anxieties away!!!! Imagine how wonderful it was to see this in my notification this morning. I remember being in such a hazy rosemantic mood listening to the greats like Ms Fitzgerald and Mr Armstrong and thinking how lovely it would be to just dance languidly and carefree.
