I have two ideas if you are interested. The first is where you have to find specific tiles within a large patch of mud that have a key that unlocks the "door" and lets you through. The longer you search, the deeper you sink, and the slower you move. The tiles can be discovered if you look closely and see the different color of the tiles. Stay too long and you're dragged under. The other is where you have to find the right path to wade through the mud, and deviating from the path will have the mud (or something in the mud) quickly drag you into the quicksand. You get out safely, but lose health each time. Of course, each failure and sinks turns the character on even more ;)
