lebron has said he spends $1.5m on his body yearly, who’s to say what that fully entails? also, what is the lowest level of performance enhancers that is illegal? wouldn’t beta blockers be a performance enhancement for anxious players? honey nut cheerios (addicting, so i will count them as a drug) are supposed to be good for your heart. maybe they need to introduce a cap on body maintenance spending. the majority of the league doesn’t spend half that amount, right? short answer to your question, no, i don’t think so, but it’d be difficult to do it right. different people require different amounts for noticeable results.

IAN KARMEL HERE AGAIN: Alright, I'll lay down all my cards and say that I believe that LeBron is absolutely on performance enhancing drugs. Maybe that belief is fueled by the fact that I'm two months older than him and I currently can't walk upright because my back is fucked up. (I probably shouldn't say that I think LeBron is on the BALCO in a public forum just in case I want to write a House Party 2 remake script, but oh well.) Here's a question: is full-blown prohibition still the right approach for PEDs? We're not talking about Dianabol creating East German super soldiers who's hearts/biceps explode at the age of 45 anymore. If LeBron is on some kind of regimen, I doubt he's alone in that. If NBA players can bounce back from injury/fatigue better than they used to... or play deeper into their careers than they used to... do we want to ban that? Is there a moral obligation to ban that? Sidenote: Remember when Peyton Manning's wife got a bunch of HGH sent to their house?

I’m sure he uses all kinds of performance enhancing “drugs”. Any judgment I’d have would depend onwhat exactly he’s doing that’s supposed to be a banned substance. He’s been in the league 20 years and played several Olympics. No reports have come out of failed tests. I don’t believe he’s doing anything that would constitute an unfair advantage
