References were halophyte farms, rice paddies, and the sap sucking bugs that produce sugary rewards for ants that feed them.

I really like the concept! On harsh post-Fall Chriirah, it really makes sense to have effective and reliable pest control to protect what little crop there is and not to waste used plant mass. What references did you use? What does the protein rich sugar refer to?
Alex
Birrin are carnivores but can eat certain fruits.
Alex
The top one is actually an 'animal' that photosynthesises. The tubes are its mobile babies.

I like that there are more than one kind of halophyte plants. The top left one looks like it has some sort of underwater tubers. Are the Birrin carnivores or omnivores, I don't remember which it is.
Alex
Water flows through from an estuary
John
So, it's more like a rice paddy than a traditional plowed field? Given the heat of the Birrin world, those paddies would also turn into salt ponds unless you flow the water through them.
Alex
The design of the farm is still in flux but I love flood-farming and want to combine it with halophyte agriculture

Practically realistic with logical pieces, yet completely alien looking. I like it!👍 You could drive by it on a dirt road in the countryside and you wouldn’t even think it wasn’t human built. And it doesn’t even have colour or detail!
