Although the expanse is more conspicuous (albeit a little dull) as it is unusual to see a field at the edge of a desert, I don't think the background should be more conspicuous than the birrin and the giants in the foreground. Therefore I prefer the more familiar foothills.

I like the foothills version as well. Also, does anyone here the opening theme from the Lion King in their head like me? The animated version.
The hills help to create rhythm on the horizon.

Foothills version, cause your eyes winds up staying in the middle where all the Birrin and Giants are, letting you make more details about them.
