Technically, imho, Russel Crowe (Ritchie) was actually NOT a good cop. Nor was he a good father. He was all in the streets with his task force trying to take ppl down, but at the same time he easily looked the other way when it came to his friends (like his son’s godfather). Speaking of, what type of father makes a criminal/gangsta/mobster his son’s godfather? Plus the whole reason his ex took him to court was bc he wasn’t spending any time with his son. Kept telling his son he was gonna come get him and spend time with him but would never show up. That’s why in court when she was going off on him she said “You don’t cheat on your wife and you don’t cheat on your son by never being around”.

Yeah I remember him walking out of prison the music was playing and that was it. I actually liked that better because it's up to your interpretation. I know people don't like that anymore though. They want to see everything lol.

The actor who played Bumpy Johnson that died in the beginning was Clarence Williams III. He was a trailblazing Black actor from the late 60s. He was one of the 1st to be shown as an equal with white actors. And had the first Black/White interracial kiss on tv in the show The Mod Squad.

While this movie is obviously good the only thing is we only get movies about the people who got caught or snitched lol as crazy as this sounds there were a ton of respectful gangsters back then and some made it out clean with millions! in your free time look into the Frank Matthews story hes the one who should have a movie not frank Lucas rat self😂
