She lied. A lot of students she taught were not happy with the movie at all. She exaggerated their living conditions & struggles and wrote a book making herself out to be their savior. There were interviews and news articles about that. Also there are plenty of Black and Latino teachers who did great things for students but they don’t make movies about them. There is a pattern of white savior movies like this. If you don’t know who Barbara Sizemore, Mary McLeod Bethune Fanny Jackson Coppin, Marva Collins, or Septima Poinsette Clark are or seen a movie about what they did then you should ask yourself why you’re seeing a movie about this lady.

Yea that's true teachers don't make a lot but what was his job I forgot and yea her having 3 jobs was the issue but idk it seemed like it was much more.

I'm gonna defend him and say even if he had supported her by going to the those dinners with the kids. She was still working 3 jobs, one during the day, at night, and the weekends too.

I doubt as a teacher with her salary (27,000) she was making more money than him. The 3 jobs thing was the obvious issue, she literally was never home. Working nights and weekends was what pushed him over.

I think the husband issue with his wife was her career was going better than his career he wasn't doing what he wanted to do, and she was. I also think that made him feel less as a man and she was probably making more money than him.

yeah its similar. idk how to explain it into words. but what i can tell you though is, both movies do teach diversity and equality and bringing people from everywhere to be together. its something ive always believed in. my family's from all the way back in time always believed in equality. ive had teachers like these. teachers helped me understand more on other prospectives.
