The Bodyguard made Whitney a superstar? I disagree. Whitney was a superstar way before The Bodyguard. In fact, she was chosen to play opposite an award-winning actor in her first movie BECAUSE she was a superstar and they knew she'd be a draw regardless of her acting ability.

When I was a child around 3-4 years old, I would say "Shoop Shoop" (One of Whitney’s songs in the film) whenever I wanted to watch 'Waiting to Exhale' because I couldn't pronounce the title correctly. This film is well-known for its iconic soundtrack, which many consider to be one of the best movie soundtracks. In my opinion, it is second only to Curtis Mayfield's soundtrack for 'Super Fly'. There are even songs on this soundtrack that you two might recognize.

fun fact: angela bassett improvised all of her lines during the scene where she burned her man’s things. also this movie is based on a book. the book had a sequel called getting to happy that was released in 2010. it was supposed to become a movie but it was cancelled due to whitney’s death two years later
