I really love this movie. It was interesting how they intertwined Forrest Gump’s version of all major events that has happened around him. Meeting Elvis, John Lennon and many different presidents. Note: One scene will make more sense, but the scene where Nixon upgraded Forrest’s hotel. You see Forrest calling about the lights bothering him across the street. That was the Watergate Office Building across the street. And Forrest just witnessed the “so-called burglary”, was actually men planting listening devices in the Democratic National Committees headquarters. Next scene you is see President Nixon. Tom Hanks played the most amazing role that won him the best actor award at the Oscars. My childhood self was very proud to see a man I truly loved in the late 80’s especially when “Big” came out.

It’s pretty easy to empathize with Jenny. Anybody with humanity and humility can see why she was so mentally and emotionally pained and why she didn’t feel she was worthy of a better life. These two are sweet, so I’m not surprised they understood.

Agreed . Like many girls who are victims of sexual abuse , at a young age, by their parent of all people, that screws people up for the rest of the lives ! Jenny had dreams but she had bigger demons she fought . She was drawn to men who violated her because she had no self esteem . The suicidal thoughts, the drug use, all methods of trying to numb the pain of a father soiling her innocence . Jenny told Forest to run and caused him to break his braces and unlock his special potential, which changed his life's course in a major way . Jenny practiced what she preached to Forest, she ran too .

This was a great movie and a great reaction! Wait until ya’ll see Saving Private Ryan. It’s a pretty graphic movie though. I heard that when the movie came out, WW2 veterans had to walk out during the beginning because it was so realistic.

Well, I might not be able to watch these type movies with Amanda. lol! I've never cried at a movie but the way Amanda teared up gave me a lil twinkle in my right eye but it did NOT DROP. Great reaction. I'm not sure if you caught it but the mysterious illness was HIV. It was new at the time and that's why the doctors didn't know. Also, the feather was in the Curious George book and it fell out when Forrest opened it at the bus stop. The wind picked it up when the bus left.

Jenny didn’t/couldn’t tell him about their son because he had been running since the day she left. She had no way to contact him. This is a classic American film. You gotta love Forest Gu-ump ☺️ Made me remember another good movie, Radio. It’s based on a true story; highly underrated.

Finally! I knew you would end up putting it in the favorites. Probably a top 20 movie of all time. Great cast, great story line, a certified masterpiece. The man you saw sitting next to Forrest when you mentioned that they were shooting people is John Lennon from the Beatles. He was tragically killed by a crazed fan near his residence. Lennon is remembered as one of the greatest musicians of all time.
