No he didn’t choose to help the schools. He DIDN’T take the offer. The school budget is not fixed. And the schools are in the same position they always were. Carcetti is not helping the schools over the cops. All areas are squeezed. He just over promised aka lied to get the votes and now he’s seeing what Royce had to deal with and is making the same political moves as Royce did before him. Had he taken the Governor’s offer the schools deficit would be over but he chose his political career over the children.

The Governor offered him the $50M+ to get the schools out the hole. But Carcetti had to kiss ass & do a press conference admitting mismanagement, etc. to get it. That would screw him for the Governor run that he’s plotting - the Mayor seat is stepping stone - so he didn’t take the offer.

Yep! All over the country. Although they still offer papers because the generation who use them most are still around in shrinking numbers. Papers have shifted to digital subscriptions these days.
