The Vampire Diaries 1X19: Miss Mystic Falls
🕑 Added 2024-09-10 18:00:07 +0000 UTCSo, just let me apologize in advance. I could not, for the life of me get out the words 'Miss Mystic Falls.' It was such a tongue twister for me. Every time I say it, I have to try at least twice. Lol.
Anyway, things are just completely falling apart for Stefan. He's lying to everyone that telling him his off the human blood and has no cravings. However, he's totally addicted to the human blood. And has been stealing from the blood banks to get his fix. But, as Damon explains to Elena, since it's been years since he's had human blood, he doesn't know how to control his urges for it. So, when he is Elena date to the Miss Mystic Falls pageant, he loses his temper after he's confronted by Elena and Damon about it. He punches a mirror and steals one of the other contestants.
However, he's super conflicted about what to do with her. He wants to bite her, but he knows if he does, there's no going back. Eventually, he can longer control himself and bites her. Then lets her go. Then decides he wants to drink from her again. But, she's no longer compelled now and screams. Damon, Elena, and Bonnie find them. Elena and Damon try to talk him down, but that doesn't work. Bonnie however, does something magical to give a headache bad enough to snap him out of it, and he runs away.
Later, Elena shows up at Stefan's room, and he tells her it's not safe for her to be there; as he really is a monster. She refuses to believe that and tries to get through to him. He loses control again, and shoves her up against a wall. He immediately apologizes and starts sobbing. She tells him it's fine and injects him with what I thought was some sort of tranquilizer during the reaction, but now realize it was probably vervain. Once he passes out, she and Damon lock him basement to detox.
In order news, it can't just be me who notices the crazy chemistry between Elena and Damon, right? I'm low key sort of hoping they end up getting together somehow. I enjoy Damon so much more than I used to. The scenes at the pageant when he has to step in for a missing Stefan was so fun to watch.
Also, we've got Damon in possession of whatever this invention of Jonathan Gilbert's was. Pearl had it (she thought when she took it that it was the vampire detector) and gives it to Damon as a peace offering and apology as both she and Anna would like to stay in Mystic Fall. We have no idea what this is, but loser Uncle wants it, so Damon wants it too.
Bonnie is super removed from Elena right now. She blames Stefan and Damon for getting Grams killed, and she wants nothing to do with them. But, she also doesn't want to make Elena choose between her and Stefan, so she's basically bowing out of their friendship.
Oh, and Caroline won the pageant! As she should. She was clearly the correct choice.

I’m not yet willing to rule it out. I don’t think they’d make a good couple, but the chemistry is insane. But, it might be better in fan fic 🤷♀️

I have never been a fan of Delena (Damon And Elena) because of the characterization. The actors have amazing chemistry thow.

This is the moment when the Delena is born. Everyone could see the chemistry between them. About two brothers Stefan acts like the "good" brother, it's part of his character, he needs to maintain that image as it were, in the attempts to hide his dark side. It's part of a superiority complex he develops over the years. As he goes from two extremes in life, similar to having an identity disorder, in order for him to feel good about himself. It's not a good coping mechanism or survival mechanism. There is no good or bad brother in this show really, just two brothers who have to deal with the fact that they are vampires and they cope with this in various ways. Damon eventually you would say reaches a healthy understanding of what it means to be vampire and has come to accept and love himself a bit more in accepting this and it's why he is able to control the drinking of human. Stefan on the other hand, eventually comes to hate himself as a vampire, influenced in some cases even by his own father's words, this self hatred in a way, is also what develops his certain superiority complex that gets him thinking he is the "better" and "good" brother, and to maintain that image, he hides his dark side from others as well as lies to himself and then uses Damon's own negative behavior as a means of feeling superior to Damon, despite his own bad side. This hiding of his bad side though is why he hides things from others and is dishonest, it's become part of who is, that it's like a second nature to him to lie, hide, and keep secrets from others, until they discover them. He can't be honest about who he is or what he, so he goes through two extremes, pretending and trying to play at being a "Human" because he can't accept his vampirism, or completely embracing his vampirism fully Stefan doesn't know how to be in the middle ground like Damon. The two brothers are a reversal of each other, Damon uses his bad side, to hide his good side, while Stefan plays at being good, to hide his bad side from others. Yet, it's more important to Stefan for others to view him as good, to see him doing good and seeks others approval to feel better about himself. Damon is the more honest and straight forward of the two though, he doesn't hide who his or pretends to be something he isn't, and he doesn't need approval others even when he does something good, he doesn't announce it or let others in on the good he does do. Once again, neither brother is good or bad in terms of good vs evil as it were, but each of with their certain flaws that becoming vampires created in dealing with that.
