Again, this was a really hard thumbnail. I really, really wanted to use Naley and Jamie when they get to the Bobcat arena, but it felt like I should probably do Leyton and the baby. Lol.
So, this really was a great season finale. It had all the best forms of wish fulfillment. Because most of it seemed earned.
Anyway, Lucas carries an unconscious Peyton into the hospital where she immediately goes into surgery. For some reason, Luke, Haley, Nathan, Brooke, and Julian are all allowed to watch from a viewing window. Shortly after, we cut to Luke at home with a healthy baby girl. But Peyton is still in the hospital unconscious.
Eventually, as Luke is telling Peyton she has to wake up as their daughter still doesn't have a name because they were supposed to do it together, Peyton whispers, 'Sawyer. Her name is Sawyer.' Almost immediately after Brooke walks in and tells Peyton she's not her second best girl. And Peyton asks about Sawyer, who is promptly brought in my Karen. Mom and baby are both okay. I'm so glad that they didn't drag that out for the whole episode like I feared they would.
Nathan, meanwhile, is still struggling with the fact that Nino got called up and he did not. Haley wakes up in the middle of the night alone, and we see Nathan drinking alone at the River Court. I'm so glad that didn't end up being the storyline because I don't think I could take another round of that Nathan. But, when he shows up for practice the next day, his locker is empty and he's told to go see the coach. Our boy has finally made it to the NBA! And his coming home to tell Haley was lovely. It was such a nice, fun misdirect for her. And then them telling Jamie was incredible as well. I love that Mouth called out Jamie.
Um, we also get Whitey! What a lovely and spectacular surprise! Of course, it sucks that it has to be Dan that's visiting him, but still. I'm still stuck in this gray area with Dan. I really do believe in second chances, but he's had a hundred second chances. At what point am I the fool for not believing him the two hundred thousand times he showed me who he was? Like, when he was holding Sawyer, I didn't expect him to try to steal her, but if he did, I wouldn't have been surprised. But, Dan tells Whitey that he thinks this might be hell, and asks Whitey to kill him. Whitey does not (even thought he has the gun out specifically to shoot him) and tells him there is still time to fix things. And then Nathan shows up. He walks up to Dan and says, 'I'm just here to tell my coach I made it to the NBA,' and purposefully walks around Dan to get to Whitey. Which I thought was brilliant.
And Victoria finally becomes the mom that Brooke has always wanted. She signed the company back over to Brooke, because she'd rather have a daughter than a company. Which makes Brooke tell her she wants to keep Victoria on. And then, Victoria tells her to go to LA and tell Julian that she loves him because if she doesn't she'll regret it. And love is the most important thing. Victoria didn't do that years ago and regretted it and it sort of closed off her heart for most of her life. This is literally all Brooke has been asking for over 6 seasons. I mom who loves her.
She does head to LA to get Julian. He tells her that if this was a movie, she'd kiss him now. And Brooke says, 'No, I'd say 'I love you' and then I'd kiss you. And she does both. Oh, I really wanted them to get together. I really hope this works out. I think they are so good together.
I really think this would have been a perfect series finale as well. If i hate the way this show ends, I'm going to call this my unofficial ending. Lol.
Also, I again cried through most of this episode. Sorry about that.

Agreed. I swore way back in S1 that his character was irredeemable, but he plays is so well, that I'm constantly rethinking that!

Maybe my favorite episode of the show just because it is so rare to have everyone happy all at once and I love it
