Heartstopper 3X4: Journey
🕑 Added 2024-10-31 20:30:02 +0000 UTCUgh. This episode. I didn't actually think I was going to like this since Nick and Charlie were apart for most of it, but it ended up being so good.
So we've got two months told from both Nick and Charlie's perspectives. After Charlie spoke to his parents, he did go see a doctor and they referred him to an eating disorder clinic, but his appointment wasn't for months. And, in that time, his mental health spiraled and he started self harming again.
Eventually, he decides to do in patient treatment for two months. And, while he's not completely healed, he's doing much better. I was so afraid that his parents were gonna be mean about it. I'm so glad to see that they believed he needed help and tried to get it for him as quickly as possible.
While Charlie's in treatment, the rest of the world keeps going. Nick is miserable and worried about Charlie. He's sort of going through life as a zombie. Darcy gets a mullet and begins to test out using they/them pronouns. (Which I'm going to have to remember. Apologies in advance if I mess that up a couple of times.) Tao is making a movie for Charlie to show him how much everyone misses him. Tara is a prefect which seems odd to me, I can't imagine her being a good at enforcing rules. Isaac and Tao seem to be spending more time together, which is good for both for them.
I hate that we're already halfway through. π’

I can't speak on OCD, but mental illness, in general, sucks. My family is riddled with it. I have horrific anxiety, like, I'm non functioning without medication, and I got off easy in comparison to most of my family. It's pretty crazy that I'm often grateful for a debilitating mental illness. π Yes. It's so rare that we see people actually getting help on TV. Charlie mentioned that there was a chance he could end up in a horrible place, and he was lucky the he didn't. It seems like that's what we usually see portrayed, you know, for drama. And I'm all for drama, but it's also nice to see something that actually helps. β€οΈ

As someone who has OCD, I really appreciated how they explained it in the show. My OCD doesnβt really effect my eating but the thoughts are really hard and the more you give into them, the worse they get. It was great seeing Charlie get the help he needed. Itβs life changing for people stuck in the mental torture of OCD and other mental disorders
