Wildfire 3X9: Heartless
🕑 Added 2024-11-06 17:00:10 +0000 UTCOMG. I never would have expected this. Although, had I been paying attention to how happy RJ and Dani were, I should have been prepared. Sigh.
So, after Matt's night with Kris, he goes to Gillian and tells her that it's over. She seems to understand almost immediately that it's because he's in love with Kris. She's very upset, but packs her things and leaves. As she's on her way out, Kris comes over to apologize. She said they never meant to hurt anyone and it just sort of happened. This is when Gillian confesses she slept with Kerry to get Wildfire into the race. (I kind of forgot that happened).
Either way, Kris is struggling with what to do about Matt. She loves him, but them being together could open a whole world of problems. (And Jean thinks so too). Eventually, she tells Matt that being together is a mistake. He wants to fight for them, but as much as she wants them to be together, it seems better for everyone if they remain friends and coworkers.
RJ is back as the rodeo is here now. Dani and Co come to cheer him on. However, even though he does incredibly well in the contest (I have no idea what it's called when you just try to sit on a bull who is trying to throw you off), afterwards, while taking in the crowd, the bull rushes him (and I think gores him) and he ends up dying. I'm sorry. What? You could have given me a zillion guesses and RJ dying via bull would not him been a guess of mine for this episode.
Afterwards, Junior rides his bull (the same one that killed RJ) to qualify and stays on long after he has as a tribute to RJ. The guys end up giving him RJ's hat, which he ends up giving to Dani. Poor Dani. She was finally able to tell him she loved him only for him to die immediately after.
Also, WTF Pablo? He leaves Raintree to go to Davis Farms? What is happening here? Why would he do this? Am I totally missing something? It feels like maybe there is a plan behind Pablo's motives but I don't know what it could be.
And after RJ's death, Kris seems to have a change of heart and she and Matt are now, officially, together. Even Jean seems cool with it. I can't imagine it's going to be this easy, but they seem happy right now.

I'm only just catching up but I was really surprised by how sad I was about RJ's death. I didn't realize I cared about him that much. Although I think how much it affected Junior and Dani influenced that. At least Dani got to say I love you before RJ died. I was worried that she would get nervous and be like yeah, I'll say it after the competition and then she'd have to live with that regret but she said it so at least she has that small comfort. Jean always means the best but I feel like she's constantly inserting herself into other people's business. I think she has valid concerns about Matt/Kris but it's not her place to be telling them those without them asking for her opinion. They're adults and their personal life is theirs. That said, I do agree with her lol. I felt almost like betrayed that Pablo went to Davis Farms lol. But I think it's fair. Davis Farms pays well, is one of the best farms for race horsing, and is basically the same commute. And I do feel like Raintree has been kind of taking him for granted. With Jean and Matt trying to adjust to running the farm together, Pablo has been an afterthought, even when it came to informing him about a major decision about a horse he co-owns.
