Yes...this could have served as the series finale, had they not been picked up, but by the time this aired, they already had the mid-season pick-up for a final season, but when they began writing the episode and then filming it, they wrote it this way just in case this was it. But thank God it wasn't...because after you see S9, you will be oh so glad that there was more story to tell, hehe. And yes...the one downside or con if you will of the episode, is that 8x22 spanned the course of a year, and so Brooke's pregnancy was all told in the span of 1 episode, lol, but the bigger story for her is for her to be a mother, and with what's planned for S9....you won't be disappointed that the babies are here and we get to see her and Julian as parents instead of her being pregnant for the entire season. It just wouldn't have packed the same punch at all with the story, so they needed to get those babies here and advance the plot...which is why we saw an entire year play out. Trust me when I say that you won't be disappointed with it, hehe. We also see baby Lydia grow from an infant into a toddler as well. I was laughing so hard when you were freaking out that Nathan had the baby on the raft in the pool, hehe. She's obviously been a fish from practically her birth, lol, and it's fitting for a Naley child since they have an affinity for the water and the rain, hehe. But that scene between father and daughter was adorable...I love it so much, and all the other Nathan/Lydia scenes as well. And Nathan telling her that she can't leave the house until she's at least 30 or 40...to discuss it with her mom, kills me every time, lol. He's so funny with his little girl. And when Nathan brings her to the cafe to see Haley and he's singing and dancing onstage with her to "Mah Na Mah Na"...so damn good and funny. Those two are golden indeed. It's always so great getting to see Nathan with his little girl. Same at the opening of KC when he takes the baby from Haley while she's performing, and Nathan and the baby are playing in the background of that scene. They stole the scene, hehe. And of course, when Nathan comes home from the road and goes and gets Lydia out of her crib and then goes and sits on Jamie's bed, and Haley wakes up and joins them...and it's the adorable family of 4. Love that shot of The Scott Family. It's amazing how far they have come. And speaking of how far they have come....so glad that Nathan ended up going to Dan and giving him a picture of Lydia and Jamie's baseball from his first hit...a game winning double. Nathan needed to do that for himself more than anything, because as he told Haley, it's been eating him alive that their children can't be around him the way a normal grandparent would, so with Haley's encouragement, he listened to her and finally went to his diner. And Paul and James always shine so bright in their scenes together, and it was a really beautiful and poignant moment between Dan and Nathan, and you could tell meant so much to Dan to have a reminder of his family to hold on to. And getting to see Jamie run to Haley at the end in the cafe, and then go and bounce his ball over the bridge just like Lucas in the opening and it's a callback to the pilot, with the next generation....I thought it was a fitting way to end the episode as well, but like I said, so glad that it wasn't the end of the series, and we get more indeed. Enjoy S9, and it's hard to believe that you are almost at the end, but not quite yet....so definitely enjoy what you have left :)

I am so glad season 8 is over 😄 No doubt my least favorite. Lots of filler characters/content and not much drama. On to season 9! 😊

So after season 6, they got picked up for both S7 and S8, which is why this could’ve served as a series finale and they tried to wrap up everything in this episode. Later, they got renewed for 13 more eps (S9). Most fans hate how quickly we saw Brooke’s pregnancy. So much build up to all be shown in one episode was annoying, but I’m glad Brooke finally got to have kids. This is my least favorite season bc of all the filler and too many kid storylines. (I love Jamie but we don’t need so much Chuck lol). I also hated the afterlife stuff with Clay and Quinn at the beginning of the season. Excited to see your season 9 reactions though- it’s one of my favs and quite different than the rest of the show.
