🕑 Added 2025-04-07 23:14:43 +0000 UTCYou guys. My heart kind of crumbled when Chris was all, 'You're gonna be my dad again?' Come on. (Ignore the fact that all Eddie has been trying to do for, like, 2 years is be Christopher's dad). I love that the two of them are FINALLY getting back together.
So, Eddie is planning to ask Christopher to move back in with him by surprising him with basketball tickets (I forget the team. Basketball is my least favorite of the top American sports teams. By far). But, when he's about to bring it up, he finds out that Chris has a chess tournament that weekend that everyone swears Eddie knows about. Spoiler alert: he doesn't. He swallows down his disappointment, but not wanting to ruin Chris's good time, he keep his mouth shut.
Later, he tries to go, but his mom informs him that only one parent can attend, as there is limited space on the bus. (Hello. Christopher only has one parent!) At first Eddie seems okay with it, but later, he tries to assert himself into a position of going. But, his mom makes him feel guilty about 'kicking his dad out'. So he acquiesces and decides that since Ramon is his coach, he should probably go.
But, when he's chatting with Buck about it later, Buck tells him to just show up. Drive himself there (he's an Uber driver for fucks sake) and show up for his son. So he decides to do that. When he gets then match, the sign in lady tells him he can go sit by Chris's dad, Ramon. Come on. Fuck that shit. His grandparents are really masquerading as his parents? Eddie is right the fuck here.
However, Eddie chooses to watch from afar, instead of in the front row. Ramon is intently staring at Chris the whole time, watching every move. Eventually, Chris ends up puking on himself. And Eddie runs over. He shoos Ramon away and takes Christopher into the bathroom to clean him up. And it's here, that Christopher tells him he hates chess. He's really just doing it because it makes grandpa happy. Eddie promises Chris he doesn't have to play chess anymore. And, informs him that he will be moving back into Eddie's house. And Christopher seems so happy. His, 'You're gonna be my dad again?' was so hopeful. But, I also hate that we had to get all the way here for it to happen.
Eddie drives them back to his parents house where he gathers up stuff for Chris while telling his mom that Chris is moving in with him. And of course, his mom is a bitch about it. But, to her credit, she doesn't really try to stop him. Both dad and son are happy. I call this 100% a win.
Back at home, we've all (minus Athena) forgotten Hen's birthday. I don't buy it. There is zero chance that Chim would have forgotten. None. But, if Athena knew, she should have told Bobby (when it's someone's birthday I always remind Dan, or vice versa) and he would have told the house. Honestly, I can sort of, kinda, see Karen forgetting. She's mostly in charge of the kids' schedules and if they are constantly changing and she's using several calendars, it's possible. But I refuse to believe that so many people forgot. In the end, it all seemed to work out okay though.

also "you're gonna be my dad again?" is even more upsetting bc it implies helena and ramon has made chris believe that eddie does not want to be his dad :( the diaz parents deserve hell

#freearchie 😂 i know he kinda stabbed that guy but really the cops escalated things and the bus crashed and the guy ran into the knife. i felt so bad for him all episode. i hope we get an update on him at some point like we do with random characters every once in awhile and he’s doing well. i was so proud of eddie this episode! him finally feeling confident in being chris’ father and telling his mom how it is and leaving his dad to catch the bus back in lubbock. i agree it’s totally ooc that chim would forget hen’s birthday. everyone else? maybe but i don’t buy for a second that chim would. also there’s only 5 more episodes this season 😔 i’m gonna miss it so bad this summer but we did get renewed for season 9!
