Thank you so much for taking the time to reply when it's not technically your field! I'll try to dig a bit myself and find out, put propped seems fair, as the inflation rate seems to contradict the exchange rate lol π I think the sanctions are a long game, people having savings and buffers, but they will start to dwindle soon and cracks hopefully will appear! Thanks for giving us life! H xx
So did we and we are not economists so we didn't know. What I've been told by someone smarter than me is this is artificially propped up. Because Russia moved to the gold standard and because they are refusing to take any payments except for roubles, the value is increasing. Essentially they've artificially tightened the supply. Citizens can't exchange foreign currency for roubles (well, they say they can't but they can) which keeps the supply from flowing out. Currency trading is not our lane but that is what we've been told. The Malcontent is a smart guy, but he understands global finance at around a 5th grade level!
