Russia-Ukraine Flash Report for 6-27-22 13:30 PDT - Moscow 5 O'Clock Follies
🕑 Added 2022-06-27 20:28:24 +0000 UTCDuring the Vietnam War, the United States would hold a press conference at 5 o'clock to provide a daily update on the combat activity in the country. Reporters called it the 5 O'Clock Follies because the numbers provided daily were outrageously inaccurate.
Today's update from the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that Ukrainian losses since February 24 are:
- 215 aircraft
- 132 helicopters
- 1,373 Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV - drones)
- 350 anti-aircraft systems
- 3,830 tanks and other armored combat vehicles (IFV, APC, etc)
- 684 MLRS launchers
- 3,025 field artillery cannons and mortars
At the start of the war, the active Ukrainian military inventory included
- 206 aircraft of all types, including 49 Aero L-39 training aircraft
- 58 helicopters
- An undetermined number of UAVs - we've learned that Ukraine had an extensive pre-war program and has used a lot of consumer drones
- 435 SAM systems (estimated as of 2014 - the actual number would be lower)
- 3,137 tanks and other armored combat vehicles
- 340 MLRS launchers
- 2,435 towed artillery, mortars, and self-propelled guns
Data is sourced from Global Security. Even if we factor in captured tanks, armored vehicles, and NATO aid, Russia has destroyed more armored vehicles than Ukraine has ever possessed.
The same could be said for artillery and heavy mortars.
That's it. That's the whole Flash Report

I remember those reports on TV. The enemy killed counts blew my teen mind. It’s war, I got that. Just thousands upon thousands a day. Later I did 24 years in the military. In boot a lot of the Petty Officers were Vietnam vets. The stories man. Killed or be killed
Love the flash reports! I read the sitreps through my email, then come here every so often to post likes and read comments. I really appreciate when you honor opsec and make note of it when you can't say more. Great work and my #1 source for complete and honest content!
