The Russia-Ukraine War Report Podcast will restart by September 5, 2023. We are finalizing the details this week.
What's the big story? The Ukrainian offensive has transitioned to its next phase, and in our assessment, the goal is to reach Berdyansk. We go in-depth on why we believe Ukraine has set the port city as its objective.
What's the second story? There is growing concern that Russian forces will attempt to launch another offensive in the Kupyansk and Kreminna areas of operation.

The TikTok envelope. I was very vocal that I didn't think it would be at Orikhiv or Hulyaipole as Russia had made deep prep for an offensive there and Ukrainian commanders before June 2023 did not attack Russian strongholds head on.
I think they’re trying to say that Ukraine had proven their previous negative views to be wrong, by doing better than expected. As the saying goes, “only a pessimist can be pleasantly surprised”. In other words, I think that they are pessimistic but they wish for more pleasant surprises from the Ukrainian side. I would agree with that sentiment.
