Comicon cameos not withstanding, I'm not sure that Gwen can not go to the convention. She has been telling people that she is a booth babe and that may compel her to attend. Time will tell. Now as for Steve, on the surface he's a creep and maybe inside too. I don't know enough about him to judge at this time. I am surprised by all his copy right infringements he's still out and about. Looking forward to the next installment

While I feel there could be some fun in other conventions, Steve annoys me as he's such a creep. That dude is gross. Going straight home may seem boring, but at least Gwen won't be stuck going around with a gross pervy creep.

Heading straight home is more difficult, BUT the payoff is the opportunities to ditch overdone TG tropes and other excuses for bad fiction. The complexities, and her handling of the homefront puts the new girl into solid dramatic ground not normal in TG.
