Pretty much. It's along the lines of seperating memories from knowledge. You are getting first hand knowledge of the thing, but not sense memories of having done it.

I can definitely think of some experiences I wouldn’t think of doing as a tourist but I would be really excited to try for the first time. Like for example if you had never had pizza before and suddenly had the cultural knowledge of where to get the best pizza… it would be awesome to suddenly have Pizza for the first time. I think some tourist attractions would be the same way. Sure the “strange local lore” etc wouldn’t excite you, but experiencing something for the first time will always be cool.
