This feels like a talk they should have had a long while ago, but sometimes we forget things and make assumptions. While Mina knows fully about Stephanie's past and who she is, Stephanie was already a Korean woman when they met. Likely made some assumptions, or just didn't think about it.
The "Respect Elders" thing came up alot in reseach, but when I looked more into it, I had a hard time finding how it differs from manners in other cultures. An example would be if an elderly woman got on the bus that you should give up your seat for her. Which is something I think is expected in every modern culture. Also a lot of behaviors are not universially followed by everyone.
No culture is a monolith.

We'll if I don't mess up this exploration in a couple pages. lol. But, yeah, we have so much more time to spend with Stephanie. And it makes sense to through her into situations where people react and treat her based on how she looked. Originally I was thinking of smaller Korean communities in the US, but this seemed like a more interesting option. Yeah, I double checked. I did accidently go a shade darker than normal. I know sometimes depending who she standing next to alters how light or dark she looks. It would add to her story if she was notably darker.

I feel like Steph is in for a lot of culture shock. I do like how much of a contrast it is and how beyond her comfort zone it goes now that she's in a new culture and country. But also Steph's whiteness and her Korean body are about to clash severely. Would've loved this for Lexi but she's got her own journey. Will say this is the 1st time I've seen a race change handled seriously to this level compared to Kendra and not just surface level but curious what the outcome will be. Also Steph looks like she got a tan recently.
