🕑 Added 2021-04-05 09:17:57 +0000 UTCWell, this one truly made me think. It's a 90's "crap" gear mixing which is a mix between digital and analogue boxes. The mix definitely makes the sound and not the other way around. But what exactly was used and abused is a mystery. That is why I want to reverse engineer this entire song as it's just too obscure and that is annoying me.
Overall it's a clean sound going into a pre amp - eq - amp - eq. After it's an overall mix bus with a very fast attack and release. That eq'd and slammed into a limiter. And according to an article some sort of "shit box". .. Might have been a guitar petal as the mixing engineer most likely got annoyed

It's an amazing amount of variables. Might be it, might not. The main thing to understand is the mixing concept when choosing the flavor box. It needs to have the right attack and release times (fast attack fast release for flavor and another one for "pumping" (slow attack fast release). If you can get those right everything will be one step closer. But you can't tell exactly until you have reversed engineered the entire song. Which is a amazing feat
Thanks Guido for your input, I'm gonna try what you suggested! I have to say I have a soft spot for those "crappy" sounds. Also could the "shit box" be a 1576A Altec ? what the devil loc is modeled after
