I also put a small room reverb over the drum buss (without the kick) to push it back in the mix a bit
Thanks for the feedback Guido! Sorry for the confusion with the reference track. My tune started off life as a Ben Bohmer style track, but then I found the Caribou song when I was looking for vocal dance tracks that I liked. So I ended up with this confused track with elements of both. I put soothe on the vocals and took the hi end saturator down a bit and it sounds much better already. I completely took out the spoken word section as it didn't work. I also reduced the reverb on the vocal buss. When you say work on the panning is it ok to just automate the width on the separate elements as the track progresses? It seems that what Caribou did to make his song build in the way it did.
