Sigvald, Part 2: Black Metal Armor

I made small change to our usual format and added some music. It's been suggested before so please let me know what your opinion is on adding a music bed. Granted I am still looking for the right kind of music. I'd like something with a bit of a marching beat that isn't distracting or too moody. Germanic war drums would be nice but for now I think this chosen track fills the void. In all honesty I bought a large bundle of music and am still sifting through it.

Thanks Nick! Gold NMM is a little trickier but I have two directions I take it in, or course the recipe can vary but I'm usually after a cold or warm take depending on what the color scheme is. In the case of Sigvald I was going for a colder version so I added the coal black into the darker tones. As it gets brighter and more light is added, I transition to bloodstone and moldy ochre mixtures. If I was going for a warmer gold I would leave out the Coal Black and replace it with mixtures of bloodstone and chocolate brown, introducing a little more orange or perhaps a brighter yellow as I highlight. I'm searching for the right project that I can put the gold on greater display. I'm thinking a Stormcast model will be good for this (He's in the mail), just getting through a few more topics :) Hope that helps!
Thanks Kenneth! I'll tackle NMM in greater detail when I have a model that features more unpainted armor plates. Getting it to look highly reflective is key, a more dramatic play of light and shadow compared to a material that is more light absorbent vs reflective. I'll have that video on his face up this month! Would love to know more about what you’re thinking and looking for when you lay out and mix your gold NNM color palette. The coal black and bloodstone just to get a dark, desaturated brown for the deepest shadow? Do you start with that or start from your mostly bloodstone mix in the middle then work up Shadow and highlight colors from there? Great video as always. So much in there to learn.
Great video! I slowly begin to pick up where to put the tiny little dots when I highlight. Nmm is for some reason hard for me; understanding where to put the lighter areas and how make the transition look more smooth. Practise makes perfect I guess. Keep it up! Anxious to see how you did the face 😊 👍
