I'm still learning to animate and I have a long way to go before I'm as confident as you, but I just want to thank you for your monthly videos and for sharing your cuts/genga with us here on Patreon! It's been a real treat, learning from you. I still don't fully understand timing/timesheets, but your videos at least take some of the anxiety out of trying to understand them lol. Good question. It's essentially indicating for that drawing to be inbetweened without me actually fully drawing out the inbetween (since inbetweens are the inbetweener's job).

For the headpat part, why do they outline the Mohawk guy? Is it for inbetweening or is it for match lining the arm to the body?
