Sure! Just turn on transparent to disable HDRI showing in the background (under Film in Render settings.) and disable render or delete the ground planes. Also make sure you've 'baked' the smoke simulation in Blender 2.8 before rendering!

Interesting.. seems something must have changed in the Blender Simulation physics or settings. Maybe getting time for a new Tornado tutorial?!

I've followed the tutorial with all the parameters, but I can't get the tornado shape on Blender 2.93~3.10. The tornado looks more like a Christmas tree with many spikes protruded out.
