I have seen it both ways (original and dub) many times and i kind of agree with you, the dub is quite good, but, i still prefer the original, in order to be able to praise the dub you need to know the source material

Quality-wise you're right that the sub and the dub are on par, Allison. However, I do think sub for Steins Gate is a better choice. There are many scenes where there is emphasis on language barrier between English and Japanese. And going to slight spoiler categorie here, but there are iconic scenes of Okabe speaking broken English, which will not really translate well in the dub.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is based on Cyberpunk 2077, its in night city. Also you should watch it in English its better

Well im someone whos kind of a sub elitist...but even I know steins gate has a phenomenal dub. I GENUINELY have no preference for either the sub or dub in that case. Thats how you know its solid. Theres not many cases of a dub being better, but some very notable ones are FMAB, baccano, cowboy bebop, edgerunners, and a few more if i racked my brain a bit, but hey, im at work lol. Im general though, ive never really heard anyone say those you listed are better in dub! Except for death note. People try to make that case, but eh, i just dont agree. I think death note is also better sub. Also maybe the occasional dbz fan, but eh...kinda cringe. My hero is one people try to argue for dub and im like...lmfao no. Not only is the va weak outside of all might for the most part, but theres a lot of word play that gets lost in translation. Like seros hero name, its cellophane but the entire point is that when you say it in japanese it sounds like Sero-phane, which is a play on his name lmfao. But yeah i think steins gate dub is just as solid as the sub. I think thats a good thing. I cant say its better, but i also cant say the sub is better for that specific series.

Sad that Cyberpunk won because I never watch reactions to shows that I have not seen for myself, for spoiler reasons, but happy to hear that a show I _have_ seen is also getting rolled out shortly after. Was concerned that if Cyberpunk won that I was basically not going to be able to watch your content anymore for the aforementioned reason. After AOT ends, the only other show you guys are currently watching that I've seen before is Mushoku Tensei, so I was hoping I'd have at least 1 other show I could follow you guys with while burning through my own personal backlog. Glad to hear that you decided to do both in this case, because it means that I don't have to set the channel down while you guys explore a bunch of recommended shows that I haven't yet gotten to.

I agree with you on all of those shows. I think we need to do away with the notion of objectivity at this point because in the end its preference. To make a statement about S;G's specific case a person needs to have watched it in both sub and dub to be taken seriously imo

That's what DBZ, Naruto, Death Note, (insert any dub show people praise) fans always say... still all these shows are better subbed in reality, the Japanese VAs are equal or better+ the words, nuances, and tone are going to be closer to what the author intended, that is not the case for cyberpunk, which makes it an actual exception, you are just not being objective :/

Both dubs are great, but for Steins Gate, I prefer the sub. There are some moments that do not translate well in dub, since for this anime there was a bit more emphasis on the language barrier between English and Japanese imo. But nothing against the dub VAs tho, since they were also phenomenal.

Important thing before you start watching cyberpunk is dub vs sub, imo as someone who always prefers sub, in this particular case dub is better, mainly because there's A LOT of "western" slang and japanese can't really convey it, but then again if you are unsure let yet another poll decide LOL

As someone who works in marketing and deals with surveys a lot, I definitely feel for you on this one, lol. A suggestion for future polls, another reaction channel called Blindwave does surveys (through SurveyMonkey) where people rank their 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choice. It seems to help cut down on these situations of ties. Could be worth taking a look.
