having just watched frozen bonds right now, i'd say they should just skip both ova's. they are basically filler and even though everyone says they are canon they literally dont fit into the story well. frozen bonds is basically just emilia saying oh im lonely and puck saying hey im your friend. thats it. its not necessary and you get much more important stuff about her in season 2. and memory of snow is the rezero equivielent of a beach or hot springs filler episode.

Mods consider telling them to watch last ep in directors cut with extended footage from s2, I think certain twist hits different when it’s not separated in your mind with being in the next season

It's mentioned pretty early on in the LNs yeah. The LNs also tell you that Priscilla saw right through the cloak though, and knew who Emilia was right away. Hence why she brings Subaru to the castle to mess with Emilia.

Emilia's cloak is hinted at preventing recognition on the episode where the first arrive to the capitol. She is wearing it when Subaru saves Priscilla, and Al was with Emilia, both of those characters would have known who she was, but neither Priscilla or Al knew it was Emilia. I believe it may be mentioned even earlier in the Light Novels, but I can't remember.

@ThaDoubleB --- Yup, that's why I listed both. 🙂 Of course, I don't blame you for pointing that out, as Memory Snow is often skipped by reactors. It's a real shame, too, because both OVAs are worth watching.

And in case you are wondering, Memory Snow happens after the mabeast invasion and before team Emilia went to the capitol. Frozen Bond is a flashback of a time long ago. While ThaDoubleB mentioned that there is a lot foreshadowed in Memory Snow, neither will ruin any information going between seasons. However, it will clear up some things that have happened during the Sloth invasion that might have made people scratched their heads when they happened.

Memory Snow is also important, since 1) it is fantastic 2) Frozen Bonds is a semi-sequel to it 3) it has a ton of foreshadowing

Just as a heads up for the mods, Re:Zero has two OVAs. - OVA 1 is called Memory Snow. - OVA 2 is called Frozen Bonds. These can be found on Crunchyroll (and probably on other streaming services that have Re:Zero). It's best to watch these before starting S2, especially Frozen Bonds.

I hope they watch both. Side note, but it'd be pretty cool if they ride this Re:Zero train all the way into S3's premiere (assuming it happens in early 2024). I love it when things happen to coincidentally time up perfectly like that.
